Mephisto Genetics Slow's Sour Stompers, Drip stakes, Airdomes, and Mega Crop.

Ok, minor update. The plants are flowering decently finally. The 3 have totally consumed the 4x4 and I am actually disappointed in this grow. Experiments are just that, and sometimes things don't go as planned. It is against my nature to use 2+ gal pots with my Autos, due to plant size. Using Mega Crop nutes always extends my veg growth by about a week. But I have not tried Airdomes, MC, and 2 gal pots before and wanted to see if I could fit 4 Sour Stompers in the 4x4. I normally could do 6 in 3 Quart pots in a 4x4. My goal with Autos is to NOT extend the growth cycle. Rootbounding is the Auroflowering trigger. The mix of Coco, Hydroton, Airdomes, and MC in 2 Gal pots has proved to extend my grow and my plants are just way too big for my liking. This 4x4 is in an akward spot in my room, so I can't take good pics. If I open the window to take a picture, it just looks like a jungle.

I don't know the exact day on these plants. I really like using Coco and Hydroton together, my handwatering plants in smaller Containers are loving it. I will not attempt to use 2 Gal pots again with Coco, Autos and Airdomes. My personal opinion is that taking any Auto 90-100+ days is a waste if time and energy. Unless it is some Sativa or Haze that is supposed to take longer.

I was going to try and move a couple of the plants to a 4x8 I cleaned out. But have changed my mind. They are so big and I don't feel like moving them, I know what will happen. They will flop open even more. That will just waste my 4x8 space. I would rather move some of my smaller plants to the 4x8 and just ride the big ones out in the 4x4. I would not consider this a failure, but not a successful experiment. Plants are very healthy and huge, too huge...which is extending the total growth cycle.
So FWIW, plants are too big and taking tooo long. I won't be doing this again. Peace, slowandeasy

So when you say small pots you mean 1 gallon or 3 quart? And that includes having an airdome in there?

Yes, so with the Airdome your amount of Coco is significantly less than a 2 gal pot. Because theAirdome fits perfectly in the bottom of a 3Quart pot. This restricts the roots faster, much much faster than a 2 gal pot.

Whats your ideal general pot size for autos coco and airdomes?
If you have Automated feeding, 1 gal is great for Airdomes and Autos and Coco. Best of both worlds. Fast growing and not too large. But don't use Airdomes in small pots if you won't be able to keep them watered very often. They Airdomes dry out the Coco/Roots fast if you are not on top of things. The very frequent waterings and small pots will speed up your growth and fills the pot with roots quickly. This triggers Flowering faster than if you use 2 gal pots. It also keeps my plants a more ideal size for me .

So would using the small 2 gallon autopots with half full of coco and an airdome be along the same lines as what you are suggesting? I've been filling the 2 gallon pots up all the way.

In theory, yes. However, your plant would be sitting down halfway in the pot. Think of it like this. If you had a 2 gal bucket of water and you filled it to the top. Now you put an airstone in the bucket. It bubble's a lot. Now dump out 1 gal. See how much more it bubble's? Resistance and volume effects the Air injection. Auroflowering strains will veg longer in bigger pots. Rootbounding forces flowering faster. Coco is unique, you can grow big ass plants in small ass pots. Just keep it hydrated. I don't suggest trying it if you don't have automated system, the plants can dry out fast.
