I love this DIY light thing...

lets get the kit list out of the way

3 x Citizen 1212's (3500k) powered by
Mean Well HLG-120H-C1050B

16 x 3w Epiled power by a 30w driver 650mA
8 x Red (660nm)
4 x Far Red (745nm)
2 x UV (380 -390nm)
2 x Royal Blue (440nm)

So this next project if for my small tent of a foot print of 3 x 2 (120cmx60cm). The project started out as just the three 1212's on the plain heat sink with a fan. I've got all the bits (was going butcher my 600w Mars for drivers) just needed a heat sink for a cheap reasonable kick ass light. As I was on the site for the heat sink I just kept adding things to my cart. Next thing I know I'm onto a complicated build and I'm ordering a frame and a mean well driver... been watching way to much growmau5 on youtube.
I decided to go for active cooling because of head room, I need every inch. Drivers will be mounted on the out side of the tent to help keep the temps down, also it will not make the light super heavy.
The 3w LED's will run on a separate switch to save power on the first few weeks.

We should have lift off tonight, just got the control box to finish.

Laid out the cob holder on the heat sink, marked all the holes to be tapped and drilled

Did the same for the side bars

drilled and tapped the heat sink and attached the end bars from the frame

Grommets in the holes for the wires and cable ties

Used some L shape at the ends for hanging

This was a bitch to do... tip don't smoke a fat one before you try this.

Ready for the LED's and wireing

Feed the wire through the square tubing... wasn't as hard as it looked 5mm holes, shape the wire with a gradual curve and feed on through. Placed the grommets in after.

Fixed the frame together... getting the wire to through end of the frame and fix it alltogether was a fun thing to achieve. Took a few smokes that with some new swear words.

Attached the 3w stars

soldered them... I had to learn a new skill here... the next time I do it I might show you close up's

Attach and wired the cob's

Fixed the fan direct to the heat sink with cable ties... would have made some cross braces but decided it did'nt need them.

attached and wired the junction box up

Job done now onto the control box

just got to fill her guts in tonight and we should have launch... a bit over kill but that whats this DIY thing is about, pimping

Love it bro. The extrusion frame is the way to go. Cheap money compared to how it looks finished. GROMETS! You're on it. I love to see that sort of care. A suggestion and a very important one is to add a flat piece of material across the fins. Right now the fans not doing much for the outer cobs. Take some temp measurements after 2 hours of running and you'll probably see a substantial temp difference between the middle and outer ones. The flat stock will allow air to flow across the whole length and not just hit it and bounce back.
