[HASHTAG]#SANlight[/HASHTAG] Q6W test... Strain - Zombie Kush by ripper seeds

Happy new year to one and all and hoping you all had a good holiday. We in the Slater house hold have had a great holiday season, traveled around, visited family and friends and as usual ate far to much food... dam those munchies over the holidays, to many temptations.

Right lets get this journal back on track and see whats happened over the past couple of weeks

18th dec...

As we started to come to the end of the stretch 2 of the plants hermied. I'm pretty sure it was a genetic trait, I've checked for light leeks and the such but found nothing untoward so pretty sure its the genetics... but still I have to take into account that the leaf strip may have caused it. No matter, the clones went into the bin, needless to say they won't be making the cut.

20th dec...
Mostly happy happy plants, still the one up back is drinking way faster than the others (I've had to add extra dripper into the pot)... One thing I have noticed at this stage is that I feel the calyx / hairs are looking a little larger... Hard to truly comment but against my cobs the Zombie Kush seem to be producing a slightly fatter buds at this stage.

22nd Dec...

The day before I went away for the Holidays... Another thing I am noticed is the stretch, it does not seem to want to stop. Its slowed down but seems to want to continue. I wonder if this is due to the light maybe having more red in its spectrum than my cobs? or could it be that the Sanlight is producing more of a warming environment?

28th Dec... (end of week 4 of flower, around about day 28)
I hate leaving the grow for any amount of time but sometimes it can help... looking good...

20181228_220857.jpg

TA - DAH...
now we are starting to motor... don't you just love it when you come back from time away and everything has stepped it up a gear. You get to see who growing the fastest and packing that weight on early... all are starting to fill out nicely
I did find that that they had got even closer to the light wile I was away, the plant on the far right had to have one branch super cropped, got with in 3" from the light. Mind you I found no bleaching on the buds... others in the tent have got to within 5" in places but so far no issues with them.

1st Jan... happy new year...
All very happy and really starting to put the weight on... I did a little bit of a leaf strip and removed any big fan leaves covering bud sites.

20190101_200900.jpg

Side by side bud shot...
first was taken 1st Jan the second 2 days later on the 3rd Jan. Very impressed with the speed and again the hair/calyx size, still looking a little chunkier than the last time I grew this strain... Density of the bud after the cure is where I think I will be making the final conclusion with this grow.... All very well growing big buds but do they have the density? ... this strain can produce rock hard nugs

20190101_200930.jpg
20190103_191508.jpg

3rd Jan...

Coming to the end of the Holidays, can't wait for the kids to go back to school. Its been a great holiday but I'm ready to get back into the normal every day. The garden hasn't suffered but my eye has been of the ball these past couple of weeks and a few thing have got away from me... Time to get back on with it and smash this grow out of the park...
Clones have been taken for the next round and that's when I feel I will be able to see what these lights can do and also I will then be able to compare them to HLG v1 Quantum Board's.

20190103_191530.jpg

Its good to back home from the holidays and its good to get back to my AFN duty's for this new year... loads on the horizon for Slaters Garden, the first round of breeding is ever so near, just got move house. And we have a job lot of great genetics to get through this year... also the auto is coming back to Slater's Garden

Grow safe people, keep it green and I will...

nice job slater how close are your lights now my 2 blue cheese are stretching like mad now i think ive kept mine at 40 cm that's what sanlight recommend in bloom but i recon they can get a lot closer than that i will start experimenting once there in full flower as my white train is so i may lower it on her to say 35 see how she looks

Due to my set up its a case of letting them grow towards the lights and hoping they stop at about 10"... kinda works, some of the time but not this time round...

I will get the tape measure out for the next update, take some pics and see how close they really are getting.

8th Jan...
Starting to put the weight on... happy tent

20190108_193203-Recovered.jpg

The bud in this first pic is the first to show any sign of the being to close to the light. It was directly underneath at just under 4" from the light. It stared to get a little bleached so I manged to move it over to one side...

16th Jan...
Motoring along and starting to fill out and put the weight on... due to my low profile tent I've been getting a little heat trouble at the start when lights come on, tent keeps peeking at around 29-30c. Only one plant up front seems to be feeling it

As you can see quite a few of the buds are abut 5" from the light with no stress

getting the hang of the color balance on my phone (with some photoshop action), those wonderful purple hue's are now coming through. Love the hues of Zombie Kush.

20190120_194057.jpg

Yesterday...

Thank you @SANlight got my tent decals... After this run I will get the larger ones up when I can get through all the wonderful bud these lights have grow

20190121_190846.jpg

Thoughts on the light and more first impression...

Well I'm coming to the end of the first test grow, we have about 10 days to go but I feel I can now start to make a comment... so far they have performed very well, I feel they have beaten my citizen COB set up on penetration. I'm seeing much better lowers than I have before in this tent (training and leaf stripping has to be taken into account). They do run a lot hotter than both my QB's and COB's set ups but that can go in your favor during the colder months. Due to the extra heat I think they would really suit a long time HPS grower moving into LED's over them trying to get their head around Quantum Boards that put out very little heat.
Bud and calyx production is spot on, will know more once we are harvested and drying but there are some rock hard buds in that tent. Also have to point out that one pheno up back has got some of the biggest cola's I've grown. She be the keeper for a few clone runs then.

Coming up next...
Harvest and then we have some OG Candy Dawg Kush (seedstockers) clones to flower out under a scrog. I've flowered this cut out twice now under 240w of HLG V1 QB's so I got a very good idea what this plant can produce on yield, hash and rosin production... So stick around the real test is about to begin, SANlight vs HLG QB's (v1)

Grow safe people, keep it green and I will...

Nice looking ladies for sure :slap:

Nice looking ladies for sure :slap:

Thanks @STILLSMOKIN :pass:

beautiful plants @Slater
had to look up that strain, sucker for kush. sounds tasty.
lights have done a cracking job.

Zombie kush is a killa strain, hard hitting and with a long cure of a couple of months she becomes a divine smoke. Lots of rich fruity berry undertones to the turps with blackberry coming through after the cure... it's worth popping a few to find a keeper there are few phenotypes that are not all that and produce next to nothing (you can see one up front in the full tent pics) but there are some superb phenotypes that get so frosty they look like they are covered in sugar.

Lights are doing well, it's my first grow so i find it hard to really comment. I'm just starting to get the feel for them, it's the next couple of grows where I will truly see them perform. Next 2 runs will be clone runs so i can gauge them to past yields and hash production.
