Strain - Zkittles by Black skull seeds

First off apologizes to all for this rather over due and very late up date on my SANlight test... it's been one of those rare few months in the Slater house hold when it just got out of control with life... We lost out dog to cancer which knocked me and the misses for 6, it still hurts. We then got descended on by family and friends over the holidays. I had to go into semi lock down with the garden and AFN for a couple of weeks. To many prying eye's about the place and too many questions on where I get my smoke from... and I won't go into details of how @Son of Hobbes has got me chained to Photoshop designing the logo for HOTT, man those whips and nipple screws sure do hurt boss... any way, we have our house back to our selves now and no one is looking over my shoulder, back to the job of gardening and testing these awesome lights.

so where are we at... I think the last time we had a look I was just about to flip into flower

End of week 2 / start of week 3 and it's that time again for the leaf strip, didn't go to heavy on these girls as it the first time I've grown this strain.

Bit of gap in the pics and a jump to the end of the month, this is where I had to go into super secret squirrel mode and sneak into the garden when I could and when no one was looking. I just plain old forgot to take any pics.

28th to the 30th (week 3/4 of flower, I think)... fully recovered from the leaf strip (they was preying the next day) and settling in at the end of the stretch... As usual plants are just loving the SANlights, they produce such a lovely emerald green to colour of the leaves

3rd to 5th of May... week 5 of flower
Not very vigorous these Zkittles by Black Skull seeds, I'm starting to get some real nice turps and the frost is looking awesome but the action is a little slow. The proof will be in the smoke at the end so I can't judge just yet but from a gardening point of view they are slow to get going... we are going into week 6 on Friday so I'm hoping we get a bit of an explosion on those buds.

To finish this up date here is are couple of pics of buds from Round 2 of the SANlight test (mid cure) and getting their first smoke test... OG Candy Dawg Kush by seedstockers (photo)

Now this is the point of the testing I have been waiting for, to see if the SANlight's had raised my game in any way... The first grow with Zombie Kush smashed it out of the park but that was with seed so I had no real bench mark to go by other than I had grown it a year before from seed. With this cut of OGCDK I had grown it out twice before under HLG QB's so I knew what to expect on the bud density, shape, size turps etc etc... now we are dry, trimmed and about mid cure we are ready for a sample.

What can I say but these buds are far superior to any thing I have ever grown before... before I rattle on on how I'm fast becoming a SANlight fan boy we must must take into account of me getting to know this cut way better and nailing its needs when it needed it through out the grow... BUT... man those buds are super dense compared to the other two times grew this cut. Massive difference in my books, huge... before under the HLG QB's (v1) they had a little give, a touch spongy and lost a little size in the dry, still yielded very well... This time round they are solid all the way down including the secondary bud sites below. They lost hardly any size in drying grew fatter and are way more sticky to the touch. You would think it was two different plants if it wasn't for the turp profile by looking at the buds. If I had a bud from the last grow I did with this cut to compare with you would be questioning are they the same... Tricombe production was great as well as the turps, got a great return on the water hash from the trim, I think the product Winter Frost has helped in that department (good stuff that, unicorn piss that realy does work)... I've also hit a record yield in that space, smashed it out the park, 2 fields down and lost the ball in some brambles. Its going to be hard to beat it with out getting a bigger tent and that's all down to the SANlights... Awesome lights, worth every penny of there large price tag.

Has the SANlight Q6W raised my game... yes it has.

Thank you for stopping by and now we are back on the horse I will try and get those up date's coming in faster... I feel a round 4 in the making with Alien Rift by Ocean Grown... A cut I have been keeping around over the last year. I know it very well and what it can do... let's SANlight the fuck out her and grown some huge buds.

Grow safe people, keep it green and I will View attachment 1056322
Nice work. I am not sure if this is available in the USA? I have great results with cobs and QB96 Elite lights. But always a fan of superior products. Price is a bit high if that is $500-$600 for 1 light? Nice work. I emailed them to get info. Peace slowandeasy

Thanks @slowandeasy , I'm pretty sure SANlight are across the pond. Check the Canadian shops... I agree they are a little pricey but once you see and feel the build and get that first grow under your belt I think you will find they are worth every penny.

It's German engineering kicking dust in the face of the competition on how to build a light solid, just like they do with cars... Can't quit remember the number but they will send out a member of the team if your installing more than 10 I think. They will come and custom fit the daisy chaining for your room.

I'm moving house soon and up grading my G'room, I'm looking forward to mixing the SAnlight with my QB's. I've this funny feeling the tent is just going to explode even more

now thats a update worth waiting for have me proper torn between another GN unit or a sanlight hmmmmm decisions

GN or SANlight...mmmmmm... that's a tuff one... the only reason I would lean toward the SANlight is that they have the extra 660nm reds to the spectrum giving it that more pinky white light like the Chilltech boards and Growmau5 pucs... I've just bought one of the HLG far red 660 booster strips packs for one of my QB set ups... white light spectrum is where its at but with that added red I do believe it taking it to the next step and getting those buds to swell more like HID but with the weight LED bring to the table.

If you don't go a for a SANlight a 240w HLG kit with 2 x 660nm strips (80w) will be on par with the SANlight if not beat it with those QB's v2... mfar lower price, would be about £350. Plus you get more watts for your money.

I did notice SANlight have dropped the price by about £100, you can get one for around the £500 mark now... still compared to HLG they super pricey

but where to get a v2 in europe is my next question

I agree that the older German cars last but from like 2000 on the f ing suck I work on cars all the timing they started using plastic and other non metal cooling hoses and vacuum lines which crack and are hard to find that is why u can pick a used bmw, Audi, Mercedes ect but this light look really nice how close are u able to get it to the canopy

just did my costs and shipping comes out too 450 delivered 50 quid less than a GN unit hmmmmmmm :face: but the hlg is dimable :deadhorse:
what did you notice with heat coming off your QBs compared to the sanlights more or less ?

I have found its far less heat with QB as you can hook the driver up out side the tent. QB really don't throw the heat down much if hardly any, in the winter I hook a fan above them to blow down on the canpoy. The space that just has the QB always takes that little bit more to heat. Does me proud through the summer and the very hot days in my loft, temps stay around 28 - 32 at the max with loft temps reaching the 40's, that's running the lights at night and not dimmed.

I dim all the time, I only put my lights on full power in flower increasing everyday until its on full by the end if the first week. My veg tent (dimmed to half) runs on just 70w split across 3 cobs. I grow a dwarfed auto under one and get near on 2 oz every time out of about 30w ish.
