Sick Plants

Man FullD, u have know idea (well maybe u do) how much better that post made me feel.

glad i could help out man. I remember writing something up about this back at RIU or IC i cant remember but i am glad you brought this out.
Its something we dont talk a lot about here especially with all us soil guys around it needed to brought out.

FullD, I was thinking, of course I'll check the PH and adj., but I should probably run my ph higher through out this grow? I also did a stupid thing on this grow, I used larger Jiffy Pellets this time. Once the roots break through the netting and hit the soil, they should start getting better? Is there any supplement I should add to my water/nutes to counter act the peat in the pellets?

I would run it a tad higher in the waterings. i wouldn't touch the soil pH at all unless you see it change on you. the bigger pellets have a larger amount of peat in them so they may not break down as fast this time as the smaller ones do, but don't hold me to that its theory. Once the roots get through to the soil it should start getting better for you. One thing that i always do before transplant is bust the bottom of those things open. I know the roots can pass through easy but i have had stumpies because of the netting benig to tight at the bottom.

Baking soda is a great way to balance pH, if you cant get dolomitic lime. If you notice a severe drop in pH of the soil you can lace the top with the lime and let it slow release to bring it back up for you. If you use baking soda i would add it to the water before the feeding and let it dissolve.

One more thing if the spots are progressing fast, it could be two things going on there pH and a need for feeding. Depends on the strain, i have had some of Wiz's stuff need nutes as early as 5 days showing signs of needing food....it was nuts by the end she was on double full dose of FF and no burn.

Update: Gave them a dose of Fox Farms (FF) Grow Big (GB) this morning at 4:00 am which is half way through there dark time. I started out with .086 oz of GB and got a ppm reading of 320/330. Added 33 more eye dropper drops and my ppm was 510/520. Added 12/13 drops of ph up to bring it to a ph level of 6.8/6.9 (had 2, 1 gallon jugs of water) Well see how they do.

my jack herer is almost two weeks into flowering and some white spots have popped up on some leaves. i was thinking it might be a deficiency of some sort with it goin into flowering. it was a cutting donated by a friend its in a 5L tub with ur usual mix and is well rooted. i've not added any food of my own, just been getting water at 6.8ph controlled with dutch pro blooming ph-

time to buy some food or is there a deficiency in the soil mix or do i need 'special magic stuff' for when she's flowering?

please help

first id like to thank you for the awesome thread. second HELP! one of my plant is all screwy. it has white shiny powder on the leaves which im not too worried about because i think its perlite. i have a layer over the soil to protect from gnats and the humidity is always between 39 and 57. if you know any way to tell for sure would be great. but the real problem is the first two fan leaves have brown edges and spots of skin missing in the middle and are wavy. ill try and upload a pic. i dont think its ph cus i tested the soil and its exactly 7

How old are the plants mate?

You should be able to blow off dust from perlite. Have you tried to rub it at all?

Spots are usually from some kind of cal/mag thing.

Pics are the only real way for us to know for sure.

plants are almost three weeks old. i sprayed it with water and dabbed the water off with a cue tip and no more powder. i cant get a good pic. only have my phones 3.2 mp but ill try with my chicks iphone when she gets back. i might have to wait till tomorrow. ive already stunted it so bad by cutting leaves and transplanting. a total runt compared to my other plant (which i just topped yesterday. already see two shoots comin up)
