For sure Blue!

Watered mine this morning and just went back to check and shes was bent over and middle of stem is shriveling up. May not make the night :(

Sounds like damping of/fusarium wilt which is a type of fungal attack often seen with seedlings.

Does it look like this ?

Damn I hate that!!

It happened to most of my squash plants this year. Everything else in the same bed was fine though. Lame.

Fear not nater bro! I hear mines not looking so shit hot either, so you may have some company sitting on the side lines. I go home today, so I'll see for myself soon enough.

Damping off often happens when transplanting seedlings.

Always avoid touching the stem, apply no pressure to the stem, the slightest damage is all the fungus needs.

When transplanting hold the seedling by a leaf and support the roots with a plant label/ name tag or a fork/dibber.

When planting cucurbit such as squashes plant on it's edge, so the flat sides of the seeds is not laying horizontally with the top of the soil.

If the seeds are planted flat then they are more vunerable to fugal attack.

I always plant my suashes, courgettes etc on a mound, this because they are very prone to neck rot.

When watering try to not water the stem directly, but a little distance away. Once established you can put an empty bottle with the end cut off in to the soil angled towards the roots & fill it with stones. This way you can water directly to the roots.

Squash really enjoy rich moist soil but need some drainage too, To make my mound, I dig a hole fill with rich garden compost (from compost heap) and cover over with soil from the hole.

Exactly! Thats a fungus? I always thought it was frim too much water

This is a reason I like hydro lol. The soil is from my mother in law, I have no idea what it is lol. Should I pull it out of my grow room? I have that and a bagseed in dirt.

Can be a contributing factor as it effects the amount of oxygen to the root, cold is also a contributing factor too.

Fungus loves low oxygen enviroments and is a contributing factor in botrytis (bud rot) ,powdery mildew and pythium (root root) other enviromental factor also promote these fungi to thrive in their given situation such as temperature and moisture levels.

Remeber never transplant holding the stem , support root and gently hold the leaf, lower in to planting hole and gently firm the soil around it without too much compaction. Seedling will appreciate an airy root enviroment the addition of perlite to the mix will help, don't give it too much water so as to drown the roots.
