Hey everyone,

As some of you already know I'm new to auto;s and giving them a go in 2015 outdoor season. I am preparing now for the year. I chose 3 strains. now my question is since I dont have the money to be paying 50 for 5 seeds over and over again.

So I will be building a small cfl grow box to supply me with seeds. since these will be fem seeds can i just grow one. spray with coilliadol silver to get it to produce male pollen sacks and let it pollinate itself. Or will I need to have 2 in the box 1 sprayed with silver and one to collect seeds from? want this box to be as small and low electricity as possible.

Thanks in advance
FITH

You should just document your reversal in this thread. I'm sure others would be interested in watching your progress and I will be here to help as well.
Just to answer you question for anyone else reading this.. you must use 2 different plants for best results. Using only one could result in hermies.

I would be glad to can show when I build seed making box. granted its going to be small cheap cfl box. but effective for what I need it for. Will be doing first seed run in about 30 days. First one up will be dutch passions autoblueberry. and thanks so much for offering to help! I'm a total noob again never created seeds from females only male female crosses. and have never grown an auto. and never grown outdoors like I plan in 2015.

That's going to get you a different response from different people, depending on where you ask the question.

I personally, refuse to believe that using one plant's cs induced pollen on itself, can result in hermies. That has no genetic basis, and not only have I not seen any picture threads or decent grow logs documenting this experiment that ended with hermies in the offspring, i have seen and heard good things from people using this very technique... I can get some links/pics if anyone wants.
Also, I'd prefer that this be countered with a legitimate response, than have it reported for being "bad info", which is not what a forum should be about. It's a discussion.

Oh, and there's something to be noted about your username and the fact that you found your answer on your own. lol

We have had this "discussion" before and gave you legitimate facts as to why Selfing an auto is a bad idea. I do not want to be rude or say you opinion is invalid but in this case I know you are wrong. I have many years of breeding experience and have no reason to lie or mislead you.
I realise this is a public forum and everyone's opinion is welcome but when you present something as fact or even a possibility when it has been proven to not be true by the Mods you are not helping. Us Mods earned our positions for a reason, because we know what we are talking about. This site is here to help others learn and providing inaccurate information is simply just not cool.
You are welcome to continue this discussion in a thread dedicated to that subject but please stop posting this info in other threads.

No we ended it with bob calling me a couple names as usual, and people sticking to the "the plant gets confused" argument. This is actual evidence of people who have done it themselves, and the reason I don't believe the misinformation spread on here. Being a mod doesnt mean a person knows any more about science than anyone else. Just that other staff likes them and agrees. It's only fair to let people know that some of the common practices and beliefs here on AF are just opinions based on heresay, so they can decide for themselves...

ust wanted to prove that it is much more than a "possibility". So much pseudoscience gets flung around these cannabis forums way too often, and it makes things more complicated than they have to be.

That's the last I'll post about it in here tho so nobody gets offended.

I apologize for bob. He can be quite passionate about this subject. The simple fact is that I personally have thousands of seeds from different autos that would prove your theory wrong. I would grow them out and show you but I don't have the time or space to waste on herms. I understand your thinking and wish it were true because it would make my job as a breeder much easier.
If you go back to the other thread, I feel as if I provided you with adequate information that should at least help you understand my point.
Oh and mods here are chosen because they are helpful and full of great knowledge its not a popularity contest..

Well, thanks for that. :) No hard feelings.

Now back on track with the thread...

I agree you might as well document your reversal process here (OP) if you can. It's always interesting.

I've selfed autos before and usually out of a whole plant you'll get a few good Beans. They look great but bad germ rates however if you grow hydro and stretch them in the first few weeks and clone one branch to reverse you'll get better results in s1 auto seeds.better germ rates but more mutants to murder. Good autos to self is Dutch passion td and auto extreme only genetics I've ever selfed with good results. Personal experiment of my own. They do a great job keeping ruderalis gene to a minimum with plants still autoflowering.

I fully agree with evol.

Your bestbnet is to start your own auto from a good photo and work down and feminize whole batch. Or find a couple non related autos and fem from a select to to make f1 FEMs.
