As mentioned before, the DFH and RRF got the ax on day 60. It's a big day to finally start seeing the final fruits of your labor, but on the other hand I
hate trimming bud. So I get through it as quick as I can without stopping to take too many pics. Here are the final impressions on these two.
DinaFem Haze - This plant had a nice aroma early on, and late in flower it became a full-blown Lemon Pine-Sol scent. To be honest, I had a bit of a headache after trimming because the smell is so damn strong. It's basically like the smell when you go in a bathroom that has just been cleaned. You're happy because you know everything is nice and it's fresh, but at the same time you want to get out of there quick since it's so overpowering. I'll be interested to see how that aroma develops during the curing process. This plant was also covered in an amazing amount of trichomes. Even the fan leaves had a good bit of crystals on the areas close to the buds, so I got a surprising amount of trim. If the potency is anything like the DinaFem Fruit that I grew last time, I'll be very happy with it. One thing that I was disappointed to find were a few calyxs with baby seeds inside. This plant was never completely happy it seemed, so I'm not surprised that she snuck out a nanner or two without me catching it. Doing some checking at the main bud sites didn't reveal any more seeds, so it looks like it was isolated to a few spots. Oh well, water under the bridge at this point.
Russian Rocket Fuel - This stumpy girl used every bit of her 11-12 inch height to pack on some really nice bud. Unfortunately I had to bust up the main cola because it was such a tangle of vegetation that I couldn't get the fan leaves off. The smell was never too strong along the way, but at the end the diesel genetics rose to the top. There's a bit of fruitiness there, but overall I felt like I was working at a truck stop while trimming due to the strong fuel smell. Despite being 50% shorter, I think she might end up outproducing the Haze in dry weight. Just a really nice plant & I'm glad to have more of these seeds on hand.
All in all, I'm really happy with the harvest from these two. They were grown in 1 gallon pots and lived under a single 92w T5HO for the first 40 days. After that, they only got another 24-48 watts of T5 side lighting. The buds seem to be more compact and dense than my last grow with CFLs, and the lights are much, much cooler. So given the paltry amount of electricity I used, I couldn't be happier. T5 lighting seems to be the perfect fit for my small scale growing.
Thanks for following along with these girls! Cure and smoke reports will be coming soon.
