Seaweed is a natural fertilizer that goes right to the heart of the plant, encouraging natural growth processes and boosting health. When sprayed onto plant leaves, or used to drench roots, it produces more roots: the bigger the root system the more nutrients and water the plant can absorb. All plants produce growth stimulants to improve their growth. However, when a plant is under stress (drought, heat, wind, etc.) the production of these growth stimulants greatly decreases. Of course, this in turn creates a weak plant that is even more easily susceptible to insect and disease. Seaweed works so effectively because it contains these types of growth stimulants. Research has shown that Seaweed increases root growth by 60%. This gives your plants the foundation for bigger, better quality fruits and vegetables and more prolific blooms. It also makes plants more resistant to stresses.
Natural resistance
Seaweed stimulates beneficial soil microbe activity, which leads to improving your plants’ natural resistance to stresses.
It creates a biological barrier between your plants and pathogens. This is what protects/prevents damp-off. Seaweed contains a large complex of chelated minor elements, to help lessen or nullify minor deficiencies in plants. It also contains important biogrowth stimulants, which have a tremendous effect on seed germination, root development, and general growth. Seaweeds organic sugars make available to the plants all the wonderful properties of seaweed.
I always start my seeds with seaweed solution and continue its use till the third set of leaves. Mix as per directions and use with every watering. This will reduce or completly eliminate Damp-off. When starting seeds in Pro-mix I have a rate of less than .001% damp-off... So why lose a single seed you have to damp-off, use seaweed and reap the benefits.
