Hey guys! I've been doing a lot of research on scroging. But when I search the forum, I only get information about scrogging relevant to photos. Anything I find about autos is recommending LST over scrog because of the shorter plants. But I know people are scrogging, especially with newer strains of autos getting bigger and better.

So, I'm looking for information. Maybe we can turn this into an information thread. I'm trying to get a better idea around timeframes so that I know when I should start a scrog, how long to tuck for, how much height I need, etc. The more information we can get on the topic, the better. I know there are other people wondering the sames things, and for some reason there doesn't seem to be much info out there.

Based on your experience scrogging autos, what can you tell me about the process (specifically with autos).

What height & how many days in did you put your auto under the net?
What point in the grow did you stop tucking?
(How do I know when I should stop tucking?)
When you stopped tucking, how high did your tops grow above the net?
Is it worth it? Did you get the desired outcome?
What else can you tell me about scrogging with autos?

Please chip in! Pics are welcome!
:peace:

I have scrogged Super Critical Auto and had a decent result. At the time I was doing a CFL grow so I wanted to keep the light as close to the tops as possible and maximize the light.CFl's ahve pretty poor light depth penetration and the strain could grow up to 120 cm.

Now with the price of a decent LED in almost everyones price range I don't see the point of scrogging autos.

Instead I favor Dwaring/Stunning method.

To do this you start growing your auto in a smallish pot Iuse 1Lt - 1.5Lt long root pot {ones that are a nice deep length}.

At the first sign of sex transfer into larger pots, I transfer to 8.5Lt pots.

This is a method of dwarfing auto's prescribed by The Joint doctor & Mephisto Genetics to keep plants compact.

I have a journal that show my dwarf plants just click my signature at the bottom of my post.

These are the auto's I dwarved back two Northern Lights {of which the tallest got to 18 inches} & in front are two Autobombs {the shortest of which only got to 12 inches}

Hey man thanks for the reply! Those dwarfs look freaking awesome!

See that's my thing: I'm going to be using a large 400W DIY CFL hood in my grows moving forward. I think a scrog could work to my advantage with my setup as it lays light perfectly over the area. The bad thing, is that you literately said what everyone else says in every other thread about scrogs.

But like I said, I see grow logs where people say they are using scrog for their autos, but the log is either abandoned or not completed yet, and it's very time consuming to go through log after log looking for information that may or may not be in there. Not that I'm complaining, I love reading logs and seeing all of the beautiful herb being grown, but I'm looking for specific information. Information that I have not yet been able to find.

Which is weird because you would think that people that are actually running scrogs with autos would be able to share their experience and have an idea of what works better for autos. Maybe they just haven't found this thread yet. "Hey, can you see me now?" :D.

What up man.. i can point you to a few goldmines of scrog info, it just so happens that many of my AFN buddies are scroggers lol.

This is my boy ThaGreenBandit's journal where he scrogs a Think Different, he killed it pulling 3oz+ and it's only his second time growing.

This is one of roark's journals, he's an AFN scrog king. If you look thru all his journals, you'll learn a thing or two.

I just started a scrog using vast and fast auto femed seeds. I have grown over 60 of these to date so decided to try it and see if it makes a difference in yield or not. I will post a log with pics when its completef early tro mid february

Start a log bro and post up the link here so we can check u out!! :Sharing One:

JAYAR Thanks so much dude you are the man! Gives me LOTS of stuff to read through!! TGB is doing so well I remember watching his first TD grow on here. Never got around to reading his long thread for his 2nd one. Now I have some reference points. You da man!!

Yeah Hippy I've read a few of your journals which is what ultimately led to my decision of picking up some F&V for my next grow (even though I already have some bag seed, I decided I wanted to go the auto route with F&V).

I'm a little less than 2 weeks from planting 3 of them babies in the ground! Just completely re-did my growing area and built it up from scratch from the ground up. Took about 1 month and about $500 in supplies, but this thing is beast! I can't wait to get this thing rolling!

what up bubblekarma? good to see you get back into growin. yep jayar is right. all of them he mentioned are killer examples of exellant scrog technique. good luck on your grow bro

For sure bro! I've wanted to get another one going since I finished my last one and at last I got my shit in gear and got my new cabinet built and ready to go (well, just waiting for my new fan to arrive today). 100% air and light tight, neg pressure and a nice scrubber to put my mind at ease with the smell this time. I think this grow is going to be hella awesome! Got a 5 seed pack from Herbies and I'm gonna pop 3 and see what the F&V does without any training, and then the other 2 I will prob attempt a scrog once I get a feel for this strain. Bro I can't wait! Plus I'm planning this grow perfectly so that I will have herb for April's holiday this year.

I'm about to spend another 2-3 hours (at least) reading all these leads JAYAR posted haha.
