Harvest & Curing Screwtops

Hi peoples, just wandering what’s the better jars for curing, I use those mason jars with the clip down lids,but are screwtop lids more airtight? I’ve been curing for 3 weeks now and still can’t get the bud below 66rh, ( using a Govee hygrometer in one of the jars). Thoughts were maybe these jars aren’t airtight enough,. They are kept in a cool dark place at 20c. Any input always good , cheers.

Those clip down lids have a red gasket on them if I'm remembering correctly. If that gasket is good and the clips are hard to push down, I think the jars would be air tight.
What is the relative humidity in your house? The bud will try to equalize with the home's humidity. Perhaps a Boveda pack or two would help. A dry salt shaker will help lower humidity. Put it in a fairly airtight container with an open jar of bud and it will soak up some of the water molecules.

Thanks bud, I’m using boveda 62 right now, couldn’t say if there working or not. I guess not lol

The bovedas won't pull down as well as they can raise and hold humidity levels, from personal experience. Also cheap hygrometers, if not calibrated, can be off quite a bit.

Even good hygrometers with calibration adjustments tend to be "close." I always recommend the boveda calibration bags. Even if the hygro is off, you'll know how much.

You might be at 63-64% but hard to know. I think most inexpensive, less than $100, hygrometers are +-3%.

In 32oz mason jars empty I find the 62% bags hold right around 60% on my calibrated unit. Hence +-3% you could be within a percent or two.
