Caviar d'Escargot

Never heard of that before, must try it sometime...

Ah, a quick search shows nothing on the Wales thing, but is available in France, so it doesn't have to be the giant african ones.
I visit friends in France every year, I'll look out for that, thank you

The welsh snail farm may have be have been 10 - 20 years ago and probably went the way of the pear.

It is all roman snails "Helix Pomatia" now for restaurants etc but I do like the way people will to try something new , in the hope it will catch on.

Here is a picture of "Caviar de Escargot" if anyone is interested.

As you know I have my plans to relocate to Northern Spain at some point in the future.
One of my ideas/plans is to farm snails, the Snail festival gets through 12 tons of snails, so many snails in fact, that they have to import half of them from North Africa & South America.

A gap in the market beckons and snails are fairly undemanding on the farmer.

arty..are you UK...?..did you ever watch that program about the hapless guy and his wife that come over to spain to snail farm...:coffee2:..it was absolutely hilarious.

When you Spot a Gap in the market you have to Go for it.

The Spanish are Mad for them..everytime it rains you see them out with the bags to grab the snails and there is always a guy with them in onion sacks on the market.

I could provide all the herbs for your Purge and we can market them as Aromatic Gourmet Snails...:tiphat:...or the Alternative to canna cookies when Spain Legalises.....

..medible Snails....

I'm always game to try something new, and wherever I've travelled I've always tried local produce, mostly delicious, but not always.
One of the worst for me was on Norfolk Island, the locals used to go to a neighbouring Phillip Island to collect Whale bird eggs during season... they are a species of Petrel... and the first time I cracked an egg into a frying pan all I got was the overpowering smell of.... anchovies...
To the locals this is a seasonal delicacy, worth rowing to Phillip Island for, but I'm afraid I couldn't manage them, they made me gag...

And on the subject of food making you gag...

Philippines.. a type of fruit called a durian... as a fresh fruit, this is banned in all hotels, but it is easy to get the dried fruit, I would buy it regularly at local airports while hopping the Islands.
As a fresh fruit, it was banned as it had the most revolting smell, it stank like rotting flesh, and it takes a great amount of effort to control the gag function... but it is worth it as the taste is amazing, I remember it being like a smoked mango custardy taste. mmmmm

Textures can be off putting to westerners. Flavors may or may not be particularly strong, but if if you have ever eaten "rich" food, that will be the most standout sensation from eating it.

Interesting idea about giving the snails canna for a few weeks
.

I have to admit it is Textures that Get me...but they are supposed to be an excellent source of protein.

If I was Hungry..I Guess I'd be eating them...in fact..give me a Dragon..I'd eat the hind leg off your Donkey...."Choccy Munchies"..an' ask for seconds...

As for my body temps being low.... that comes with the spinal injury, as my legs don't work they are permanently cold.

Paralysis or nerve..circulation damage..?..how much Pain do you have...

Ok you weird-o's go ahead and eat the bugs I'll take mine alive and catch a Fish :smoke:

:Haha:

the lady I was dining with suggested I try the giant local snails... I'm game I thought...
but it was like trying to eat a flip-flop sandal

Whelks are a bit like that...you need your teeth sharpened to get through them.

You wanna see the size of some of the snail shells at the Ranch..I Know I'm going to have a pest problem..

arty...I can throw them in one of the kennels..get your Breeding stock set up for you...:coffee2:

They were pushing snail trail as the ultimate acne cure in the paper two days ago...we might get into Cosmetics...

DE Diatomaceous Earth Mossy,
spread it around the plants you want to protect for a foot or so,
Most insects and bugs cannot tolerate it.
No problem for mammals unless breathed in.

.
The circulation problem is due to not walking any more, the leg muscles have wasted a bit... it is amazing how much heat normal folks legs generate

The "pain" I have is not real, it is hypersensitivity, if you were to run a feather over the top of my left foot I would feel it like a sharp knife, even just normal it feels like my feet are in boiling water, and it is something I am quite used to now, but the automatic responses in my legs are still there, so any stimuli can set my legs bouncing

I'm in the UK ..tis true , my dream is Spain coz it is a damn lot cheaper to buy land than in the UK, plus other considerations.

I would as take a road trip to Italy, where they eat 11 different typeof snails , some are tiny have a all yellow shell, I'd go to the market where they sell em live and would drive back with my new breeding stock.

Herbs sound good :) by the time I get to realize my dream, you should be in full production :D I posted something about the Spannish Group "Regulacion Responsible" http://www.regulacionresponsable.es RR Aims to achieve the necessary legislative changes, from the perspective of Human Rights and Public Health, being the vehicle of expression of civil society to achieve a change in user perception of cannabis in different segments of the public. The platform has considered it vital to disclose qualified arguments to stop patent, the ineffectiveness of prohibition and repressive legislation on the subject at hand.

Hopefully as you say our favorite herb could be legalized in the future and we could sell canna snail now wouldn't that be something, defo take some to Lleida Sail festival, you could sell enough to live off for a year, though there would be a lot of preparation leading up to it.

I believe it is possible to buy guls eggs in the uk but I'm not really that interested, I'll leave them for ep he likes everything fishy.

Durians are supposed to be quite nice to eat, the only problem is the thick, thick nobbly skin that when you open it it smell a bit like poop though no first hand experience.

Exactly what I have..so I know some of the treatments we have can Help...:coffee2:
