Meanwhile back at the Ranch...

It was an Early morning.
hubby was golfing..dogs needed their walk so it was easier to go straight down there..:coffee2:..and make me own coffee.

I decided to tackle the orange tree...

mossy-albums-dragons-zen-farm-picture410832-1aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaglobal.jpg

Now That is what I call a Proper Spring Bush Trim....

mossy-albums-dragons-zen-farm-picture410815-dsc0705.jpg

Like the apple it must never have been pruned at all..it had loads of suckers running un and intertwined with the main stems..PITA so I just Skudded it.....took everything back to the wood.
It will make it's own mind up if it is going to live or die now.

All the time I was doing it I wasn't sure whether to take it completely down......I don't know if it is down to being neglected or if it is the orange Type..but it is one of the worst oranges I have ever tasted.

The fruit was on the ground when we bought the place so I'm assuming it hit its harvest point...but they were absolutely Sour and full of Pips..right down into the flesh...

mossy-albums-dragons-zen-farm-picture410839-1aaaaaaab.jpg

The Only thing I can Think of is it could be a Marmalade orange..lots of pips mean lots of pectin..:dunno:..or maybe an Ornamental..but who would grow an ornamental orange.

This is the Outbuilding...I bet you haven't seen this before.....you open the door....and you are met with this at eye level....WTF....

mossy-albums-dragons-zen-farm-picture410838-1aaaaaasanta.jpg

I Thought it was the Roof collapsed and fallen in..coz the roof is collapsing....

mossy-albums-dragons-zen-farm-picture410837-1aaaaadragon.jpg

It is made with Palm trees..split in half length way...covered in canes and plaster..goes half way the length of the outbuilding.

It is a Drying area..you can see they have knocked a few single bricks out for Ventilation...

Probably for fruits or veg though..I couldn't smell any Stash....:Growing:

Then I'll be at 10'/3m at the center.

Wow...you will be able to grow a Canna Tree....:Growing:..I'm Envious....you know how much my toes are going to Hurt Not growing a canna on the Ranch..

Funny you should ask about bees...
A friend of mine that has a farm a few miles away is looking into starting a colony.
I told her if she does go that route to keep me in mind.
I have a good spot in the backyard that a hive could be kept.
Besides, who doesn't love honey?
big%20hug.gif

I would Love a bee hive.
hubby says it would probably be expensive..but I see a lot of hives round here on the farming land..if I'm making an Aromatic garden it would be Nice to have the bees in for pollination.

So, raising bees may be a possibility.

Great..you can be the forward Scout...

I would like to have seen his response if you had.

So how come the List is so Big...?...are you a Secret Chilli Hoarder....

As soon as I saw the picture of the geodome I knew it had to be someone in Colorado those things are everywhere here.

I'd Love to see what it come out like if I had to build it...:coffee2:..bet it wouldn't be that shape...

I'm hoping a Canna Tree :Growing:will be a reality for me this year.

I was just looking on Craigslist for beehives and bees.
Found a local bee supplier:Cool bud: $100 for 3 pounds of bees with a queen.
This equates to approx 5000 worker bees and one queen.
Also found a local hive maker. Approx $50-$75 for a good sized hive.
None are available until spring, so I have some time.

The chili list is so big because I was heavy into chili farming before canna went legal here.
So, I kinda did what your planning on doing.
Chili farming in the interim.
I also participate in seed swaps on chili forums so I have access to some crazy strains.
Sometimes I do feel like a seed hoarder.
But I maintain the balance by giving grips of seeds away.
I've hooked up a few of the hydro shops around me with a crazy selection of peppers.
Really cool to walk into a hydro shop and see some of my seeds growing on display.:Ohmmm.......:

Hey Mossy, I was just passing through and wanted to say hola - I´m a fellow Brit living in Spain and I love what you are doing with your land - lets hope legalisation comes soon!

Great idea regarding chillies too - I grow my own on my balcony because there just isn´t the variety available. If you can do mail order I´ll be your first customer!

.:goodluck::goodluck::goodluck:

Having access to the home bred and crazy strains is what I Love..I want Different.

Any of the guys you know from the chilli forums that you would recommend as a vendor on AFN for them...?
I'm Looking for some Good/unusual chilli/tom seed companies to come on board..have a place like the independent canna breeders sections.

Cheers Alwaysautos ..how are you enjoying Spain....?

You have got me Exactly...you just don't get the Variety here.
If you Notice I got the Thai chillies..kaffir lime and the lemongrass too...just Can't find the ingredients for a good Thai curry either..:coffee2: ..If I'm missing the ingerdients..you Bet other UK-ers are too.

lets hope legalisation comes soon!

Then the land will turn into a canna co-operative..and the compound will be the canna Social Club..."Izzy wizzy"..faster than you could say abracadabra.

Set of big pine picnic tables along both sides of the gravel side of the paddock and you are set up...:tiphat:...minimum costs...

I can get a Few tables and chairs in there....

Meanwhile back on the Ranch.....the first real overcast day since we bought it.

We finished the apple tree prune...got a load of washing hung out and left.

We had lots of bits to do.

Electrician is coming tomorrow to check the lights..plumber is out Friday to check the boiler.
Once we get hot water we can get the indoor cleaning started..."pher Wiggle"

Save me a seat - I´ll be there shortly!!

It would be a Hell of a Party...:Hookah:

Ha ha..you want the Big Breeders that can afford to pay for a section JM..I want the small guys for the Free sections.

thanks for sharing the pics mossy... love it! :dance2:

I'm Hoping to have the time lapse camera set up somewhere Before the farmer comes to plough..then do 1 photo a day over the grow season..so I can do a slide show to see how it grows..or doesn't in the first year.

Tea leaves are harvested in the early spring and stored until the late summer when fresh jasmine flowers are in bloom. Jasmine flowers are picked early in the day when the small petals are tightly closed. The flowers are kept cool until nightfall. During the night jasmine flowers open, and release their fragrance, and this is when the tea scenting takes place. There are two main methods used to scent the tea with the jasmine.[SUP][3][/SUP] In one method the tea and flowers are placed in alternating layers; [SUP][4][/SUP] in the other, the tea is blended with jasmine flowers and stored overnight. [SUP][2][/SUP] It takes over four hours for the tea to absorb the fragrance and flavour of the jasmine blossoms. The scenting process may be repeated as many as six or seven times for top grades such as Yin Hao.[SUP][2][/SUP] The tea absorbs moisture from the fresh Jasmine flowers so it must be dried again to prevent spoilage.
