Oh Mossy... You have my mouth watering with that list of herbs and spices and everything else that's nice.
If you like Tomatoes and peppers you should check out Manzano or Rocoto peppers. Shape of an apple but the fruit like a tomato with heat.

With all this Sanctuary talk I have to post what I hope will be my Sanctuary sometime this spring.
Here is my back yard.(pic is from May 2014)

And here is what I hope to put in place of the blue circle in the first pic.

Here in Colorado residents have the Right to grow 6 plants each.
Med growers can grow more of course...
But we legally have the ability to grow outdoors.
So I can no longer not take advantage of the opportunities at hand..
Found a great GeoDome wizard online.
Enter in the dimensions you want and it calculates all the angles to be cut and lengths needed.
I'm hoping to have this built for under US$500.
Wish me luck on my new endeavor!

When its built I'll come be your bud tender...lol! :Sharing One:

Hope you have a respirator for half those Chilies Mossy. I either grow or have grown them all and people who are not use to processing them, can have a serious issue without proper breathing protection.

Yup cheers DubV..I got caught out grinding the dried ones out when the fine powder come up in the air.

Yes, I'm actually familiar with the Eden project.
There are quite a few houses here in Colorado built on the geodome standard.
From the few I've seen they're unreal beautiful.

Thank you for the positive wishes.:tiphat:
The dome I'm planning on will be 14'/4.26m diameter.

It was actually me that sent you the list of pepper goodness.

Ok you have my attention, keep us up to date on your sanctuary!

Meanwhile back on the Ranch...:coffee2:...

Another glorious day..slight cloud cover..just as I was about to get me afternoon VitaminD.

I Love that patio.

Because of winter shadows I only get a shaft of light for about an hour a day at this time of year.
Now I have full sun.

Hubby brought the saw down and took all of the lower branches and I started pruning the apple tree
(I Think it is an apple..I'll know better when the leaves come in....)

One of them will become a shady sitting area for the summer..the other will become a Secret play area for the grandchildren..I don't know which yet.

The Carob tree is happy as a sandpiper..absolutely covered in blossoms..the Apple tree not so Happy.
It may just be it's winter garb..so I'll reserve judgement till I see new leaves.

I'm guessing it has never been pruned before coz I ended up with half a tree..and I'm not finished yet.

I've stashed both sets of branches to dry...just incase I can persuade hubby to invest in a Smoker..Muddy says apple is one of the nicest smoking woods..and I have the space to let it dry.

It was actually me that sent you the list of pepper goodness.

Just as well I didn't Reply to Trapper then huh....?......
You know..my Mom used to do that with us kids..we always got 3 names before we got the right one...:slaps:..I'm turning into me Mother.

Yes..I have seen them advertised here too..in wood...they are Neat.

Oh Mossy... You have my mouth watering with that list of herbs and spices and everything else that's nice.

I'm driving myself nuts too.
I want a Big Fat Aromatic plot around the house....

They say the ylang ylang tree is aromatic all year round..I'm planning a jasmine hedge all around the perimeter fence...watching me patchouli for cuttings..I have Lavender coming and all the other herbs..pity we don't have Smelly Vision

Thank you for the positive wishes.:tiphat:

I would like to have seen his response if you had.

Big......how High are they..they look Tall...?

The general rule of thumb for geodomes is the height is half the diameter.
So I'm looking at 7'/2.13m tall in the center.
To add height to the dome I'll be installing a "pony wall".
A 3'/1m wall at the base to raise the dome up. Then I'll be at 10'/3m at the center.
This will also give me 3'/1m at the edge of the dome to grow where normally one couldn't grow to the edge of the dome due to the curve.

Funny you should ask about bees...
A friend of mine that has a farm a few miles away is looking into starting a colony.
I told her if she does go that route to keep me in mind.
I have a good spot in the backyard that a hive could be kept.
Besides, who doesn't love honey?
One of the best things for my spring allergies.
Local honey.
So, raising bees may be a possibility.

As soon as I saw the picture of the geodome I knew it had to be someone in Colorado those things are everywhere here.
