Root's Honey Tincture

Hey Elle,

How was the Honey tincture?
*sings* There ain't nobody here but us chickens.....

I haven't tried it yet. I hid it away before family came over for a few days and need to retrieve it. I'll do that now.

*edit* It's separated! I can still smell the alcohol in it too. Reckon it's mostly a fail... but I do have a proper thermometer now, for when I do another batch.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner @Eclectic Elle

The tincture is not a fail, keep shaking and eventually the alcohol Will evaporate out.
The reason it separates is because the alcohol grabs a hold of the cannabis molecules you extracted and it really does not want to let go of it. The agitation when you shake it helps loosen this bond. You can see it better when there is a lot of chlorophyll in it.

I have a little bit of trim left from some autos we grew...So I decided to make some tincture today

I am decarbing 1/2 ounce in my Ardent Lift.
At the risk of sounding like a commercial (not trying to sell you on it), I like my Lift for decarbing small amounts. It's push one button and your done. If you are concerned with the smell (and I am not :smoking:), wait til it's completely cool before you open it.

The Honey Tincture in the eye dropper in the picture, was made 9 months ago. It was made with the cold method, so very little chlorophyll got in, but it is staying in suspension pretty well and there is No alcohol taste at all.
I don't usually have tincture around for this long, it got packed and forgotten about. When I found it, it had turned to sugar. I kept it in a warm cabinet, in the kitchen and turned it every day...who knows, that may help keeping it mixed.

next up...infusing

Decarbing done, I'm putting 1 Tablespoon Sunflower Lecithin and enough Everclear to cover.

I use a knee-high (like a nylon stocking) along with a ricer. I use a tourniquet to help me squeeze.

Then I strain with a paper coffee filter inside a nylon coffee filter.

Had a little over a cup of infused alcohol ( put the excess in my lemonade :eyebrows:) And measured out 1 cup of honey.

Before shaking. Honey is on the bottom
IMG_8209 (2).JPG

Shaken, not stirred.
IMG_8211 (2).JPG

The lid of my first jar leaked, the pint sized canning jar is too full to be able to agitate properly

So we have two small jars.

Now we wait and shake very time we think about it :chef:

This is what the jars looked like this morning

I shook one first to show the difference

I spend about 10 minutes shaking the jars and as soon as I take the lid off, the honey and the alcohol start separating again.
I try to shake every other hour, or whenever I see it all separated again.

Looks like it's time to shake again!
