Could someone tell me how important soil temperature around the roots is?
My ambient temps in the tent are in an acceptable range, but soil temps are around 16 C (60 F).
If that's not good, does anyone know what I could do to bring them up?
Thanks

Hey there Capn cod welcome to AFN:d5:
In soil 60° is fine. But I wouldn't want it to much higher. They don't like it to hot. :pass:

Hi Growtogrow
Thanks for getting back to me!
Thanks also for calming my newbie neurosis lol. I'd read somewhere that they should be at about 72F (22 C)
Have a good one

I wouldn't worry about the 60ish temps. Thats fine.
If you want stability in the temps.
I would recommend a heating mat for seeds.
The mat with temp regulator will cost about $30US.
I use them in the shed at night in spring.
Because of cold nights.

Yeah 60° temperatures is fine.
The only time you got to worry about temperature on the roots really per say is if you're running Hydro. Then you got to pretty much monitor the roots zone more. But then again if you're outside in a pot and that pots getting hot from the Sun you'll burn up a plant that way too.
But 60 degrees is a beautiful temperature actually I wouldn't worry about anything else when it comes to root Zone temperature.

I grow inside and outside for

Hi @GeorgeCloney
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. BTW I'm salivating looking at your girls!
The thing is I'm growing in less than ideal conditions. I live at about 4,000ft with my tent in the basement. I've had to insulate with polystyrene sheeting & install a heater (so I won't be doing any grams per kilowatt calculations - too depressing lol). Now we're coming into summer, I'll keep an eye on things, but for winter, I may end up doing as you said - here in Winter the besement can easily get down to near zero C / 35 F.
Have a good one!
