First, I'm starting some autos right now sex unknown... say 50 50... I want two females so I've got two in 3 gal containers germinating now... as back-up I'll make 'sausage' cheesecloth tubes of light soil in about 2.5 inches wide and use them in the event we get any males in the primary containers... in that event, I'll just take out a core and drop in the ready to go 21 day +/- female and let the roots go crazy and the cheesecloth rot away..
Second... longer story... a long time ago I read a great thread in some educational archive area here that went into great detail about how to make your own CO2 generator using water, muriatic acid and marble chips. Combine all three in the proper proportions in a Homer bucket and voila! You've got a $10 CO2 generator! The only byproducts are salt water and sand... So a less longer time ago I set about to begin the process by purchasing two CO2 sensors to test and learn about how my existing environment measures... The grow room is at the lowest part of the house and six inches lower than the rest of the basement (a separate room)... which makes it perfect for doing this... it was just a matter of time... So now I've got one sensor near the bucket to see how much we're generating. The mixture is calculated by figuring cubic feet of air and how much acid to H2O you'll need in a five gallon bucket with a few inches of marble chips in the bottom... The other sensor is right by me in the potting shed so I don't get killed in the event of a leak... lol Don't worry, I've got it covered... or I'm dead...
Talk about upping the game! Heh, heh, heh...
