I went out to feed the critters and crossed paths with this little guy... I LOVE Eastern Box Turtles!! It's a male... You can tell it's a boy by the red eyes.

Another massive update! It's getting busy in there! Lots of stuff going on... I'm gonna post the pics and then I'm going to tell you all how my process of breeding and selection. Give you an insight on how and why I do what I do to get the desired results.

Sugarbaker Group 1 @ 27 days (4 weeks tomorrow - 8th) we got a total of 5 females and 2 males out of this group. 1st male was culled in favor of the 2nd male. I know I stated this already just recapping for those who haven't had the time to get caught up. Here's the first 5 females from that group.

SO that's it as far as the picture show!! I'll be back in a sec to tell you all my plan of attack...

So this is how I proceed with breeding... in addition to the obvious selection and picking the best pairs and mates... because we really don't know how the terp profile is going to play out, structure, etc... I pollinate all of them. Every single female. I choose 2-3 good branches toward the middle bottom. I take a small craft paint brush and literally paint pollen on the bud sites. I tie a small string off on them so I know (even tho it's obvious once they form... I can keep track this way) This is for a few reasons. One it's very controlled. I can let them go as long as I need to and harvest the rest of the plant... Also it takes the crap shoot out of breeding. Structure is IMPORTANT but it's NOT the whole enchilada... Doing it this way I don't regret not pollinating a certain female.

and yes... when I harvest the seeds and bag them up they are labeled by pheno and bagged up separately so I know what's what.

As I'm looking at the Sugarbakers, first group is 4 days older than mine, and I'm thinking I either must be doing something wrong or pot size is really factoring into growth since they are soooo much taller!

Then I hit group two, which is 5 days younger than my Sugarbaker... And they are still short...

This should be an interesting week for mine if pot size doesn't factor into when she decides to stretch. So far the consistency in your breeding has been right on!

How tall would you guess the group 1 SB's are atm?

:pass:

I've said it before, and you've heard it a lot this week, but I have to say it again. They're beautiful plants, @Rebel !!!

You are definitely not doing anything wrong! Definitely pot size... Group 2 will explode any day now. Probably between now and next feed... Within the week mine will stretch. Also the 6 hrs darkness..

I will get you exact measurements of all in group 1... I'm making a late dinner but I'll do it asap!

You are not doing anything wrong... I just saw your update. We just have different pots and light schedules... She will explode soon. Trust me!
