My auto has been flowering for about 9 weeks now and its my first grow. Just wondering if anyone knows based on the looks if its ready for harvest. The plant sprouted in late February , it gets roughly 5 hours of direct sunlight and i also topped my auto when it had 7 nodes back down to 5. Ive been flushing for 2 weeks and just did 72 hours of no light and i really dont want to harvest if its not at its full potential. I would appreciate any feedback! Also im not to sure of the strain ! Might be sweet skunk from the look and smell.

Looks (to my eyes) like the white hairs are mostly receeding and turning brown/orange.

I'd say you're safe to harvest!

Some people would harvest later, and wait for all the white hairs to receed leaves turn to autumnal colours ... Some would harvest earlier for a more "uppy" high.
I would harvest at about the point you're at.

Me???

:pighug:

I do harvest by pistil condition / colour .. it tells me when the plant is ready.
I "could" use a loupe ... but when the pistils have mostly receeded and turned orange ... the auto is coming to the end of it's days.

I see that you're on your first Auto Grow ... If you need any help ^_^

Hey Blue, thank you :biggrin:I thought i had to use a loupe with my autos as " Shredder " stated to see when its ready. I did notice the hairs as you said and was waiting for most of them to turn redish/orange. Ive read a few things online where some growers go based on pistils and others on trichs. Super excited by the way to see the end product of what ive been taking care of for the last few months! I also got 2 more autos , harvest should be coming soon. But they arent as big as this one theres a few factors as to why they are growing diferent and will post them soon to get some help.

Weedman matey if u dont check with a loupe u might not get the high ur looking for. And pistils may look ready or unready and a quick look on trichs will tell you right where u are.

I dont know autos yet. But def know my ways with pp plants... Hard for me to believe autos are different when it comez to ripenening process...

Hey Hey guys :D Sorry if my post came accross abrupt - i've done my back in and am in quite a bit of pain, and not my usual upbeat cheery self.

So i'll clear things up about the loupe.

@Shrederr - I do have a loupe and i did use it in the past. The thing about autoflowers that should be noted is that some won't turn amber at all (trichs) - you could keep em growing until they are well and truly dead (and they WILL die after time) and they still may be loudy.

I've never had a auto remain clear (although i have chopped early to test effects..it wasnt for me), and spotting cloudy trichomes isn't tricky (even without a louple) .. they'll either be glistening clear like crystals .. or white and cloudy.

Having a loupe is a good idea ... for all growers! I'm not saying i'd use it much .. but having it in the box so i can check there's no sign of early mold ... or even to ease my mind that everythings looking as it chould close up.

With a photoperiod plant .. I think i'd be far more keen to look at the trichs as a harvest indictor. With an auto .. the trichs wont mature past the hairs turning brown and orange.

So for summary (after the ramble!) ... A loupe is cheap .. and you may as well have one in your toolbox .... but you probably won't iuse it much after a few auto grows as you get the feel for when it's ready - all the other indicators will show you! :D

Hope this is a better explanation, than my slightly annoyed previous post!
Apologies for letting any bad vibes out!!
