I am doing a DWC grow and added some Cal mag to the Res. The next day I went in and the pH had dropped to about 5.2 from 5.8. I changed the Res today adding new nutes and all. Anyone ever seen this, and anybody have any idea why it happened? Thanks All

Some more info, the plant is at 6wks under a 400W HPS temps are high but within the range using AN nutes and Big bud and bud candy, and sensi cal mag bloom. Everything has been fine the res was low I added some water and the cal mag, then a day later a massive pH drop. Any body?

What was your ppm with you starting water bro? Cal/mag is actually a ph buffer with ph perfect. However if it raised your starting ppm to high, that could explain the drop. I always put my Cal/mag in first and make sure my ppm starting is between 125-150 ppm. I use distilled water with 0 ppm so Cal/mag is needed to make the nutes work.

Hey dub, I put it in a res that was already with nutes in, it was a top up. I noticed that the plant was showing those rusty spots and gave it a little extra Calmg with the top up. It was just weird to go there and see the pH so low. Just went down there and the pH, after the Res change was up to 6.4(I assume feeding and drinking) I just lowered it back down to 5.8 and prob tomorrow morning the pH should go up again, at least that has been the trend so far on this grow. Does it seem right? Buds are looking good, packing it on, some spots on the leaves, but everything else seems on track. Thanks for the reply.

Hey insert... I havn't had a pH drop.... yet... the rise to 6.3-6.4 after a res change seems the norm... for me anyway...

:peace:

Thanks Kush, I went in this morning the water of the fresh change had dropped slightly and the pH went up to about 6.2, so I lowered it again to 5.8. Must have been the way I added the Calmg, or I put too much and the plant just locked up. So far so good after the res change thanks for the Help
