Bought a couple of smart pots and i was wondering if i should use something specific at the bottom of the smart pots for a better drainage and for the roots, or do i simply pour in my light mix and don't pay attention to what's in the bottom of the container? Also, i've read a few people saying that you should not let them touch the surface otherwise the roots at the bottom would die / have a pour ventilation.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance.

I do straight soil nothing at the bottom and everything is going good no problems whatsoever. I have some plants I. The indoor grow battle and the 420 MBAP grow if you to check em out.

Water your soil until its fully drained. Wait 6h to acrivate micro organisms. Then plant your seed or seedling.
Advice for the first days: better a soil too dry than too wet. Let the roots search for water! When soil becomes dry, use a spray to water. Dont water too often in the first stage. A seedling doesnt need a lot...
Thats how i do it.

When I was using soil with Smart pots, I would first water to some run off and then 5-6 hours later I would plant seeds. "DO NOT" water again until they are nice and dry. Get used to the index finger and thumb lift method to check when water is next needed.
