New Grower Question about using tap water

Spot on DAB! Dude, BknBits.....wait on the tent man! DAB could have potentially just saved your life! Safety first!

Hahaha I'll try and find an alternative to the box. I might temporarily start it in a closet and move it to the tent when it gets here. Fire would definitely not be a desired result ;)

See pop, I would be all over the provider about it and believe me, they get shit from hobbyist and professionals in all sorts of industries about water quality.

My city water source now is from a river, so there is no problem with seasonal changes that you have from lake or reservoir water sources.

My last home was in a city that had a lake source, and it could turn very quickly.
I had to keep an eye on that.

The problem is, I did complain and got a water test. I know it makes no sense, but whatever caused the problem was not obvious in the test, yet switching to distilled proved it was the water. That even stumped the [people who did the test. I saw mention of a water filter, but they cost almost as much as an RI unit. A basic whole house filter at the cheapest is $39. and th's with only a sediment filter, and another $20-25 for a carbon filter upgrade...It might help some though. Even diluting the tap water with RO or distilled by 30-50% can be enough to temporarily fix problems. That what I did till my RO filter arrived.

I won't use tap water in the greenhouse any more either. I've already rouded up 2 50 gallon barrels and will get 2 more. I'm slowly filling them with snow as it melts, I add more. In spring/summer I'll collect rain water. If need be, I'll mix it with tap water, but I'll never use tap water straight form the tap again. OBTW, my water is from a well t5hat supplies 5 other homes.

Your better of buying a gallon of water with minerals. Only $1 gotta use distilled to soak & germinate your seeds.

I was just looking at the mineral water at the store today and thought It may not be so bad to have to buy a week at a time. I am only using 2 x 2 gallon pots so they aren't gong to take a lot of water at first. I just don't know if I would be able to do it for the whole grow.
