Hello.

I was just thinking, since I am a T8 grower due to a special heat issue and the fact that I have not enough money at the moment to invest in LED designed to weed-growing.

What if I, at the flower time got a whole bunch of those cheap ass led lights and threw them around where the the T8 do not reach (lower down on the plants if it get tall) in the flower period - say I put them on after 4 weeks about?

Would that be a cheap, temporary solution to get the buds bigger in the lower half? Is it different red lights and is it a particular one or series I would need or would any red do fine? Or is this just not going to work?

Side question: should I pick off all the small buds down on the plant so the top half can grow even bigger? I heard something about it, but I am not sure. Any suggestions? Also, I have heard that the big leaves should be removed to add more growth to the buds - anything in this?

If by cheap you mean the $20 panels you can buy on ebay then dont bother. Grab some warm CFLs and position them around the lower parts of your plant instead. Seriously those cheapo led panels are awful. 100s of leds drawing about 10 watts total and the case is made of hardboard so thin it could almost be cardboard. A friend of mine gave me three of them. i turned them on once then stuffed them in the back of a cupboard where they remain unused lol.

I'm gonna have to agree with bb here. Cheap LED panels are just that and what they're worth; almost nothing. If you're looking for a cheap/easy way for extra light get some cfl's as stated by bb or some little 2 foot T5HO's. Both work great. But if you're going to invest more money in lights, I suggest just replacing those T8s with T5HOs or a good cfl setup. Cheap and full effective.
