Update - I am having germination issues with the DD's & PJ's. I have 1 DD & 1 PJ that have broken the soil. I also have 1 Snow Ryder that's above ground. (I just threw it in and popped, so I figured I'd try and grow one)
I am not so sure that I am liking these little peat pots. They seem to stay pretty damp and I am worried that my sprouts may be damping off. I was also worried that maybe because of my grow area is in a crawl space, they might be getting chilled even though my temps are stay from 70 to 80 degrees.
To remedy this, I finally bought a heat mat. I am going to give it a whirl and see if this helps.
If I don't start getting some results, I am going back to party cups.
Oh, I should tell you all that I drop them in ph'd water for 24 hrs and then into a paper towel and then in to a plastic bag to germ.
I think my issues are either cold roots, soil too wet or these damn peat pots. I just thought they'd be easier to tier when they get to that point.
The advice of many of you is ringing in my ears...... "If you find what works, don't deviate." Maybe I should have stayed with my party cups. At this rate, I'll run out of DD's & PJ's if I don't dial it in.
I have to admit, I really love growing. Figuring out the problems is always a learning experience.
It's funny, I have this grow pretty well planned out at this point, but if I don't get them to germ and grow, that's all for nothing.
Back to the basics....
I do not believe n anyway it's a seed issue. It's a FNG issue!
