Grow Room Pulse Labs Tester Group

I got a question :confused1:

I know its a bit early since none of us have the pulse Nano device yet but I wanted to talk about the proper placing of the pulse Nano in the tent or grow room.

like optimum height and position of the device to get the best readings sorry if I am getting ahead of myself I tend to do that a lot lol :smoker1:
HAHA I was going to ask the same question friend. I just hadn't got there yet. :slap:

@okPeet first off .. very interesting product ...

can u talk a bit about data storage and your implentation of IoT security ?

i must admit this quote from your privacy page scares the living shit outta me :

We contractually require these third parties to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them. We may also disclose your personal information to: (i) comply with court orders, laws, or legal process, including to respond to government or regulatory requests; (ii) enforce or apply our Terms & Conditions and other agreements; and/or (iii) if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety.

We may also disclose your personal information to a buyer or other transferee in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, sale, or other transfer of some or all of our assets. Should such a sale, merger, or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to direct the transferee to use your personal information in a manner that is consistent with our Privacy Notice.

I agree that it sounds scary, but if you read it in detail, this is how it breaks down.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users without restriction.
We can tell people "we have 1000 users and each one has two devices each on average". This is something we would have to mention if we're discussing our platform with other people interested in Pulse.

If we need help developing the app, and we decide to hire someone to help us, they are allowed to access your data in our database if it the project warrants it (for example if it's required for integrating a new notification system).

Saying we won't break laws or kill people in order to protect our database. And keep in mind, the only personal information we have is your email that you use to sign up.

We may also disclose your personal information to a buyer or other transferee in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, sale, or other transfer of some or all of our assets. If someone buys the company, they naturally would be become owners of the infrastructure that the business runs on. This would include our database which has information such as login info (email, etc).

Regarding data storage, we do our best to limit the amount of personally identifying information that we store. The only piece of identifying information we ask for is an email to use as a login. If you feel uncomfortable sharing that, there are free, encrypted, anonymous email providers out there - a good one is protonmail (https://protonmail.com/)

The IoT platform we selected is used in scenarios that require very high security - for example, it's used in a Pitney Bowes product that prints postage (literally a money printer). It's the world's only IoT platform UL certified for IoT Security: https://electricimp.com/platform/security/

@okPeet i would love to discuss this some more, but maybe this test tread isn't the best place ...:bighug:

I will start a dedicated tread tomorrow 3am here :pighug:

Impressive setups everyone!

Great question about position. This is really a question of your personal need but for testing purposes -- a Nano at top of the canopy is the best position. That way you know the exact conditions of your most important area (where your colas develop).

We have users using them for all sorts of things though: cloning trays, drying/curing rooms, nutrient rooms (to avoid freeze), and intakes/exhausts. My personal setup is one in every corner of my bloom canopy, one in veg/nutrient, and one that tracks how often my A/C comes on and what temp the air output is. This way I know when I need to freon fill, etc.

Sounds good, I'd gladly talk about this more, I know it's a concern for growers, and it's definitely something we've kept in mind during development.

looks like Christmas came early for db003!

I was surprised when the mailman brought me a package I was not expecting if you cant guess what it was yet... I got my Pulse nano! so I made a unboxing video and got it all set up for now since my lights were off I will play with it some more when the light comes on a bit later.

I already got my first screen shot of the pulse nano in action.

it took me about 10 minutes to figure it out and to get it connected I wont lie I had a bit of a tough time getting the nano setup it took some trial and errors but I got it working.

there was not a problem with the device it was mostly the device I was using to connect it I tried to use my amazon fire tablet but the battery was dying and could not get it to connect so I tried it with my computer screen and after a few tries I was successful.

p.s. there was a small problem with the included activation guide.

the device in the picture on the activation guide is different then the included device so I kind of had to figure out where the sensor was located myself its on the face of the device FYI

hey everyone

I got some more screen shots of the nano readings and was able to move it around a bit more when I was watering my plants and installing my HPS bulb now it is facing the center of the tent a bit more

I also have a few questions the guys at pulse @okPeet @getpulse.co

what I wanted to know is a little more about the setting in the pulse app and how to configure them specifically the threshold settings I took a screen shot of the settings in question

I set the time my lights come on and off but that's about it

Already looking crowded in there!

The threshold settings are your alert settings. These are the values that will trigger your notifications when something is off in your room. You'll notice you can pick values for both day & night.

Lux: Anything under 40 in daytime would be considered low... timer working properly? did the breaker pop? Ballast burn out? Power outage?

Temp & RH : Set what you think is acceptable for your environment, any time your Pulse's reading exceed those values, it will send you a notification via email or text (set in My Account).
