Hello wonderful people,
for my next growing cycle I planned to grow my first photoperiodic plants. Since I do not have enough space in my rooms for an indoor grow I want to use my balcony with good light coverage and very decent protection from harsh weather. I still have some unused 50l smart pots lying around and since the autos I grew in the past always fully filled their 20l pots with roots I think the size is roughly ok or am I wrong here?
Anyway, do you have any tips or things that someone who only grew autos until now probably needs to know before wasting time and ressources?
Thanks for any input!

Hey @mindfulinventor

To be honest there not much difference between Autoflowers and Photoperiod bar flowering. Autoflowers may eat a little less and some maybe a little bit finicky but no different from Photoperiods.
You can be a little bit more rough with Photoperiod when LSTing. You can also top Photoperiods a lot more but like Autoflowers once into flower leave them alone.
That 50ltr pot will do you proud, good super soil and it should be charged till tjd end of tjd grow.
Start a journal, tag me and will join on in for the grow and help in any way I can.

Thanks a lot I certainly will. Since growing season is over for me I still have plenty of time to prepare until next year, see you then.

Only thing I can think of is to do a darkness check and make sure there will be no interuptions to your 12 hours of dak wnen you get to that stage.....

Yes thank you I am quite certain that there is absolute darkness, but I will check again when the grow is about to start. There is a small wall seperating the balcony from the street which blocks all the light that may come due to street lights being active. I have some concerns because of the veg/bloom light cycles though. I still need to measure if I can get well over 12 hours of sunlight so they do not bloom early. How sensitive are they when it comes to potential early blooming?

I think total darkness is absolutely no problem where I live. Since lots of light is, ( the balcony is south-sided, means it gets light from sunrise until around 6-8pm, that's just about fine to grow decent autos but truly lacking when it comes to photos. I have a decent sized garden which has a little space left for a greenhouse so I currently think about building one. Might be worth a shot no?

Thinking it depends on how they were started...years ago I did them completely outside and they stayed with the yearly cycle.....last year I did a bunch of clones and handed them out in June...it was reported they started flowering as soon as they were planted....they were on 18/6 indoors and out it was just under 14 hours and heading down....

Yeah plan is for them to start outside and stay outside.
