Old Reviews Pro mix HP = soilless

I wish I had seen this post weeks ago! I recently switched from FFOF to Fafard C-2 mix (same makeup as promix bx but I can get it at my local nursery for $17 a bag). I have been feeding with the PH at 6.5 like i was doing in soil and both plants are showing deficiencies (Mag I think) late in flower. Some foliar feeding with epsom salts brought one plant back to nice and green but the other is still having issues. Its feeding day so they will both get fed with PH at 6.0 and we will see what happens. Only a couple more weeks left for these guys but I bet they would have produced a lot better if I had not screwed up the PH.
On the plus side even though some of the leaves look rough the buds are still getting fatter every day. Gotta love those dragons they take a lickin and keep on tickin.

Since the peat moss shortage started promix came out with HP-CC which I have been using and its phenomenal. I use AN nutes and various additives and promix is still the best medium I've ever grown in and definitely the best for me and my garden...

The CC stands for Coco Coir and it has myco in it as well. Its a better mix than BX imo... Great all around.

That's what I'm getting is the pro mix hp-CC for my outdoor field of dreams this spring!!! At my local shop a 3.8 cubic ft bag is only $45 bucks! And that's 28 gallons of medium!
Never done coco before so hope it's awesome!!

Dude its hardly any different than bx... Just less peat moss and coco blended in. So minor adjustment with better results imo. G if you've used BX before its no different... Dang bro at my shop its $37.99... But hey its still a great deal compared to Fox Farms soils.. Which you pay $45 for a 25 lb bag or whatnot. Can't remember lol been so long since I switched...

Calling all Pro-mix HP users lol :)
I have been using sunshine mix #4, but when i went to my local shop i was told
they stopped carrying it! So i remember hearing alot about the pro-mix HP so i picked up a 3.8 cf bail
for 45$ us.
As i read through this thread i see that it will run a little higher on the PH than the sunshine did.
This bring 2 questions to my mind.
1. Is there a chance i can add a little dolomite, or something elsse to the soil to keep the PH down a little?

2. And if so what has worked and how much should i use per gallon of pro-mix?

A little bit of info:
I use CFL for young veg and switch to HPS after a couple weeks.
I am using the AN PH perfect sensi gro series.
Pot sizes are Pennington #3 & #5
I will be doing a little bit of traveling and i want to make sure that i can have the
PH stable so the babysitter doesn't need to think too hard to water them for me since
It doesn't seem to matter to them if they do it right and i gave up on trying to teach them how to use the PH/TDS meter. (75 year old father)
I thank any and all responders.
Peace and Good Karma to all

I'm using 17% aluminum sulfate to lower the initial pH of Pro Mix. I add 4 grams per gallon of mix. This lowers the pH to about 6.3 the day after watering. As the soil dries out, it slowly climbs back up to around 6.6 - 6.7, then drops again after the next watering. I'm using the GH Flora Trio and mix my feeds to 6.4. I haven't tried this with the pH Perfect nutes yet. That will be my next grow. What is the pH of your nutes when you mix them?

High muddy thank you for the response.
My RO water is 7.6 before i add nutes, and the PH perfect drops it to 6.2 - 6.5 depending on if i add other things like Molasses which tends to lower it a couple tenths.

With those pH numbers the aluminum sulfate should work fine. I'm running RO water now myself. Are you adding enough cal/mag to your RO to up the initial ppm to around 100 - 125?

My RO water is 102 ppm stright out of the spout.. i wonder what the 102 is? i was thinking it was salts or cal from the water softener..but i was thinking that the RO removed that.
I am using a 100GPD RO buddy with a 10Gallon tank.

i just installed that 4 weeks ago.

Edit:
Ever since i started growing inside i have been fighting lockout. i wish i could test my own water to see what is left in the RO water. makes me think whatever is in there is f'n me up

That's kind of high for RO. I've got a 5 stage, 100 gpd that I got off of eBay for about $100. It removes just about everything. My ppm usually ready in the 4-6 range. Your softener could be an issue. I would by pass it if you can and then see what your readings are.
