Indoor Pop22's Breeding and Random Grows and Projects Thread

Hi pop,

So I think you saw the discussion on what is an F1 ,BX1, etc in LS yesterday , well at the end of it I still aint sure ,,,

I have a set of f5 beans which I am planning to take the best male and female and pollinate and in my understanding of things that should produce F6 beans ?

That's correct! F indicates inbred lines. BX is back crossed lines, S I believe is selfed. So when you see this in breeders descriptions, now you'll know. And now you'll see why some breeders self an F1 cross and let you deal with multiple pheno types etc. Its a lazy technique to get to market faster. A " stable line" is one taken to F5 or better. Most quality breeders take theirs to at least F3. Us more than one female if you can to preserve at least a little genetic diversity if you ever plan a second breeding run.

Thanks for the clarification pops :toke:

I have 5 of the F5 girls all very similar to each other, I plan on picking my two favourites from them for more seeds :woohoo1:

The male I chose from the set was the strongest and quickest to show sex  very similar in size and shape to the girls :pass:

Thats pretty much a perfect set up. Remember, you really only have to hit one bud with pollen to get a couple of dozen seeds from a plant. That way you can also smoke your seed donor for - um, science.

@pop22 do you live in an area that shows high molybdenum on the map? At alkaline pH moly is bad for plants but harmless to people. Its easy to diagnose if it leaves black stains in the same way that iron leaves orange stains. I'd be curious to see what happens if you added some EDTA to your water.

Hmmmmm I'll have to look into that and get back to you. What would be considered a high level?

Ok, things rolling alone here again finally! And we have three ducksfoot, 2 crosses and one photo period pure ducksfoot. The lady duck is just a visitor she'll be moving around will will eventually be a pollen recipient.

Next we have 12 Azure Ducks seedlings.germ rate was 100%!! And we have my new strain, Dreaming duck ( Blue Dream auto x F2 duck x duck ). Both are being grown out to select a male and a female in each group. the 2 pollinated females and one female of each strain for bud will be kept the rest will be composted lol!

They were moved from the cab into the tent today. Lighting is a pair of Auto Cobs a total of 120 watts of light.

I'll also have a Bioradiance BRe light inhere as a test. Check them out in the Bioradiance thread.

Update:lants look good! I've no idea if or what affect the Bioradiance light is having, wish I had a control group but I already have more plants than I want.

These plants are growing like crazy! I love hybrid vigor! To the left you see the Azure ducks. Some looked to be autos so I moved them to a cab, 3 females and three males. The males are a definite and one i'm fairly certain is female. I'll keep the best female and all the males, let the get kinky....lol! Got a Mataro Blue clone

I moved one Dreaming Duck, that I had transplanted into a 1 gallon pot, in with the Herijuana as it is on 12/12. Here's hoping its a female lol!
