I was wondering if I could ask a question? Thanks for any help in advance. Once I have the tap root coming from the seeds should I plant them in their grow medium directly in the 5 gal buckets or should I plant them in the grow medium in a small green house to get rooted and then into the buckets? I know AF don't like to be moved once there planted so I wasn't sure. Thanks again.

I have heard of people planting their seed directly into the grow medium without even letting the tap root come out but I didn't know if that was a smart idea.

I assume you are planting Autos, WM? If that is the case, put them straight in their final grow pot. Autos do not like to be transplanted and it can stunt them.

And, Welcome to AFN! Stop by the intro thread when you have a chance and let everyone say hello to you and get to know you. Also, post up a journal in the New Growers section when you have a chance. It will help everyone help you should you have any problems along the way.

That is the only way I germinate seeds but you have to be careful about watering, temperature and absolutely make sure they do not dry out at the same time. I hate to move them once the taproot emerges so I find it easier that way.

Thanks for the info. I will go ahead and plant the seeds right into the grow medium in the dwc bucket and skip the 24 hrs in water till i see a tap root part. If I understood right?

Oh and yes I have Autos. Went with some White Widow Autos. So many I want to try but first things first. Get some to grow. LOL

Ahh, you are running DWC. My friend, I am not too sure about that then. Honestly, I don't run DWC, I thought you were talking about a soil or soilless grow. And believe it or not, I just noticed this posted in hydro forum. I had clicked through from the sidebar. My sincere apologies. Most folks I have seen here running DWC start them in water and then transfer to rockwool cubes and into the bucket. Please ignore my previous statements for I am a stoned idiot, lol. :Stones slap:

Someone from the hydro forum will answer your question shortly and hopefully delete my stupid answers.

No problem a420er. I appreciate you wanting to help.

I just noticed you have no answers yet, let me shoot a buddy a message and he will get be in to answer you shortly.

Hey there WifesMedicine I plant mine straight in the medium I'm growing in as soon as they show tap root in the bucket I plan on growing in so to answer your question yes you can plant straight into your medium in the 5 gal bucket.
