Here's what I'm working with:

I've got a closet in my bedroom that is roughly six feed wide. I'm interested in growing a single plant at a time, considering my experience level. Right now all I've got is seeds I've collected when I've come across mids, but I don't have anything totally dank. I don't mind growing the mids, but I highly doubt they're autoflowering seeds (I don't know if that presents a problem; couldn't I just force it to flower whenever it reaches my desired height?) I'm going to be taking a trip to buy materials today, but I don't know exactly what to start off with.

I'll have more questions, don't worry. ;)

Welcome to afn.Don't waste your time on mid bag seed.Check out the different seed banks and get some auto's.You wont get quite the yield as photo's but they are a lot quicker avg. about 8 to 9 weeks seed to harvest. Yes you can force a photo at any time with a 12/12 cycle but the time it takes is alot longer. The choice is yours but if you choose auto's this is the place to be for expert advice. Some one will always be willing to help you through the entire grow.Anyway what ever way you go good luck with your grow.

Welcome to the forum. At the very least you will need a pot, good soil (no Miracle Grow junk), nutrients, a light source, a ventilation fan with a carbon filter, a pH meter, timer and a circulation fan. Bag seeds are okay for a first grow to learn with but will most likely be a photo strain. Depending on how high your area is, you'll need to put them on an 18 hour on, 6 off light schedule and then switch them to 12/12 when you want to start flowering.

Check out the Reference Links forum. Lots of good information in there including several grow guides that will take you through the basics from germinating your seeds to harvesting your plant.

Got the stuff for a basic setup today. I've just got a lamp with a splitter so two CFLs are what I'm working with. For now it's just in a lamp, but I did get the parts to rig my own contraption up so that I can have the lights actually hang over the plant. I'll probably switch over to that once the seeds have broken soil. I have one seed started on its own in a jiffy pot, and I have two others just chillin' in a 8" pot. I've only watered the solo seed right now. This isn't really going to be my first "real" grow, which is why I'm working with bag seeds. It's essentially a trial run to get my setup right. Pictures will be posted in a short while.

edit: and thanks for the welcome. :)

Smart man, testing, because it takes so long from start to finish, is rarely done, but that shows you really care about doing it right. Your name is also one of my favorite photo strains, too bad there isn't a Choco-Auto........ yet! I would also like to see Barney's pull off a tangerine dream auto. Anyways, I hope your test run produces a lovely little lady!

Thank you sir. Checked on the seeds (six of them) that I have germinating and two had sprouted. Planted them both in an 8" pot. Not really sure what the light cycle is supposed to be for this stage. The solo seed in the jiffy pot has not yet shown any signs of life. I expect the two germinated seeds to break soil within a day or two.

As I said in my previous post, put them on 18/6 since they are photos. When you are ready to start flowering them, switch to 12/12.

hey welcome to the site. great to have another fellow grower to share with. as far as advise around here, Muddy is a great wealth of experience and knowledge, and he's always eager to help new growers like ourselves. as far as your photo seed type being so-called "mid"...although i will get alot of disagree'rs out there, if you grow your weed, with the correct feed, light and love, that mid you speak of, can turn out to rip your ass good. a good grower can make almost any strain worth smoking. however, even the best genetics out there are worthless without a decent grower behind them. just keep up on your ph, temp, soil, and light, and i'm sure that what you reap will beat what you sowed. good grow vibes to you.

Very True!!! I smoke the DANK constantly but I like to buy what they call "mids" @ my collective. Instead of getting Top Shelf, ill try a lesser strain and sure enough, BLAZED!! I think the body likes changing strains frequently. So yeah if you can grow this out even semi properly, you'll have some fresh, sticky mid weed that I sure you and selected company will enjoy :-)

Thanks guys. Haven't kept this updated like I want to, but I've been really busy these past few days.
I've got an image this time. The two germinated seeds I planted have popped their heads out. They're both in the same pot. Been watering very lightly. I have a thermometer, but I honestly haven't had the time to work on keeping a steady temperature. I'll be working on fine-tuning these next few days.
