4th week as a newbie grower! I'm following a nutrient schedule from another weed site (That was before i found this place...) and it recommends to give plain water every other watering. Some other grower on Youtube also give plain water couples of times a week.
But i also read at many places to NEVER give plain water to autos in coco.
Which is true?
Since i've started reading about growing 3 months ago i'm amaze by the contradictions you can find on the web about growing weed!

:vibes: Sorry I don’t have your answer about your specific questions. Just wanted to point out that you have already discovered the most important key to growing, contradictions. And the real question is what have you been doing and has it worked. If plain water every other works for you then I say keep it up. So many people grow under so many different circumstances. Since you have only two variables which are coco and plain water/ nutrients you get answers from anyone that knows might use them. But the guy in the 1 gallon air pot with pure coco will have a different watering routine then the guy in 5 gallons buckets with a coco/soil mix.

Just trying to say great that you are aware of the contradictions and taking that information from both sides and using it to steer the plant in front of you is the secret to gardening.

Hopefully someone with a real answer pops in shortly. Until them just stoner wisdom.

Avoid plain watering with coco, it will affect the mediums CEC (cation exchange capacity) in a negative way. Plain water will leach nutrients away from the cation sites, and you will end up feeding your plant an unbalanced nutrient mix, as the coco will be taking what it needs before the plants get access to it.
:pass:

I didn't do plain watering as the nutrient schedule recommand because i've read somewhere else to never do it and the plants are doing great.Well,at least 2 of them are looking great and the other one was noticebly smaller from the start and some idiot (me) broke the main stem on that one trying to do LST but is still looking healthy with a painter's tape patch.
I'll guess i'll continue to feed every watering...
Thanks!

Looking good!

The truth is out there, unfortunately like everything else in life has become, it requires digging thru mounds of false info to find.

In coco I would expect in flower you will be feeding more than once a day. Most runs I'm on a 12 hr feeding cycle by mid flower, I've got a lite eater finishing up that's getting fed every 18 hrs.

im a soil grower....but some things ive read about cococo that keep coming up again and again.so pinch of salt and all that.
coco likes a lower ph than soil.dry coco can send the ph nuts.coco likes a hell of a lot more calmag than soil.
a member sadly long gone Hans was the master of coco growing.
