New Grower Photosensitive! Cheese and Purple Haze scrog!

8 weeks of 12/12

Gave them a mild feed yesterday. Per gallon:

3ml Hi-Brix molasses
20ml fulvic acid

Figure it would help maintain the micros, give a small potassium boost, and the fulvic would help unlock the residual nutrition in the soil. Can't decide if I should give them one more big feed next time, or slowly taper off towards flushing.

Is it weird that I just set the smart pots on the tent floor and don't drain my water anywhere? I water til runoff, then the rest evaporates or is absorbed back into the pot. Never had build-up problems or anything. Probably couldn't of done this with salt-based fertilizers.

At any rate, plants are happy, I'm happy.

Decided to lower my light a bit. Went from 25" to 18" from the tallest cola. Trying to drive light deeper into the canopy for the last few weeks.

Anybody think I should defoliate? Thinking of cutting the shade leaves from the upper canopy.

What the distance from the top of your pots to your screen?

Trimmed up some of the shade leaves. Now I kinda wish I had done it sooner.

Trichomes are still mostly milky, with rare sightings of amber glands. So I'm definitely going to let them go longer. I'll defoliate more as the week goes on.

As I've mentioned, I'm gonna be away from the grow from the 21th to the 29th. Gonna lower the thermostat in the house in hopes of purple. Also gonna reduce the time for lights, and shut off the CFLs. Hoping that if I water them a bunch the day I leave, they'll be ok while I'm gone.

So fewer light sources, less light time, lower temperatures.... hopefully that will make their water last longer. Anybody have any experience or advice on this?

I was going to say trim, but I've only grown once. I've researched growing for a long while, and I was making a hunch based on that. I'm glad to see my instincts seem pretty correct!

Also, how will you keep them watered while you're gone? I'm about to leave my babies for a week and am worried about them; I need a cheap solution!

Wow boys I have family I visit and have had to leave my girls several times but it was for 3 days max. I watered good the day I left and when I got back they were dry as a bone but we don't have a lot of humidity here so... Can't really go off that. But that's along time. I wish the best of luck to both of you.

i often thought about someway to rig up one of those automatic fill dog water bowls. Lol

Id buy some of those orbs you fill with water and stick the neck in the dirt. I would think you would be 2 close to harvest to be worried about issues caused by over watering? I would think worse case scenario you come home to buds that ya already started to dry.
