My personal choice for liquids is the Hanna Combo. Besides checking pH it also tests TDS and PPM. PPM, especially can come in handy. It normally runs around $120. For soil I use a Control Wizard Accurate 8. You can find them for about $50. You can get away with just one for liquids but it's nice to have both.

By the look of your plant, the yellowing on the edges, it looks like you've already got a pH issue.

So I need a seperate one for the liquid and for soil? I thought one of a simple Hanna would work on both :( I also suspect it might be a PH issue hence wanted to get a PH tester for future.

You can get away with just one for liquids. To check the soil you just water and catch some of what runs out the bottom of the pot and test it. Not as accurate as a separate soil meter but usually close enough.
