Yes your grocery store does carry opium poppy seeds, but I would suggest ordering them on line & make sure they are Papver Somniferum(The Opium Poppy).

Just checked them out and they dont send down here. Had a look at a few others as well and they dont send here. Seeing as we are one of the biggest producers of poppy seeds you'd think it would be easy to get here lol. O'well looks like I will have to miss out. I have a friend in the u.k who might be able to buy me some and send it over..he's a bit of a straighty one eighty so he probably wont do it. What are the medical benefits from using it. My mother inlaw smokes weed for pain relief (both of her wrists are full of athritis from cutting hair all her life) and she is also a fulltime carer for her invalid parents. I was thinking of getting some to grow and see if it helps with her pain relief and her mental relief aswell lol. Cheers.

Poppies have been used for pain & ephoria for milliniums. They found neanderthals w/ poppy pods along their remains. Pretty kool cave man junkies...hehehe!

im gonna put Yakima WA on the map im growing 3 different types out here its funny until yesterday i only knew about scrapping them for the stuff and that takes forever and you need alot of pod using the whole plant is geniuse im just trying to find the right recipe

Alright guys I don't know what type of poppies you are growing for the most part. It seems as though most are using grocery store seeds. Two of my favorite strains for opium production are Gigantheum and Hens and chicks. Both are available at great quality and germination from oneStoPpoppyShoppe.com and both are big producers both in size and amount of latex upon lancing. I love this site they always throw some free seeds in for ya and they have tons of varieties of Papaver Somniferum so you can look like a flower collector not a poppy grower, know what I mean?

well i got like for different types tons of pods and ive just never used the whole plant to make opium so ive gotten some recipices like grind it all up till its like a powder add 2 cups of vodka 1 cup of viniger and 1 oz lemon juice let it sit for two days in a cool place then simmer at 150 degrees for 19 hours after addding one more cup of viniger and vodka
