...Papaver Somniferum(The Opium Poppy) Growing...

So I just went out back and the poppies are doing great! Almost every stalk has 3-4 pods visibly forming now... Got some pics of what to look for when you have secondary pods coming out.
Pretty sure the hairy one is a white afghan, but sometimes a virtually hairless stem variety will get fuzzy...
Also some nice color on some of the outsides of the pods which usually means a beautiful bloom!




Again they aren't labeled, so I'll know only when I see a bloom; should be any day now...

...at this point it be comes great for dipping rolling pappers in. Also leaveing loose to try & mix some thc oil w/...hehehe you san make it pretty hard if ya like & it will smoke fine. I love smeering it on a joint.

Great videos smashed! Is that water you added? If I may suggest a way to increase what you get out of it as well as the potency?.... I know you like to harvest when green and that's fine (good to see you cleaned them of any seeds forming or matured, clean smoke!) but if you let the pods/stalks dry a bit before the exraction and use 1 part everclear to one part water and then blend them it will extract more of the alkaloids, as the water already in the plant cells is shielding much of the good stuff... Once the stalks have dried (not crispy but not bendy either) the cell walls will have weakened allowing both solvents (water/alcohol) to do their work much more efficiently. Not only is the impregnation of the mush more complete, you can also evaporate the extract much faster as much of it is alcohol. Was also going to mention that if you want to speed up the evaporation process, you can place the whole tray in a hot water bath and also use the hair drier to get done quick (use good ventilation)! as long as the water outside the container with the extract is almost but not quite boiling, you will have no decrease in potentcy!

Warm water from the tap. I try not to use much so the evaporating time is as short as possible. Speaking of that, those are some excellent suggestions that you made. I'll be writing them down in my notes...hehe only got a few more & I'll be done til winter when I do an indoor crop. I can make enough medicine this way from 4 good plants (multiple blooms) to last me 6 months. Was just starting to run out of my last batch.

Couple things I meant to mention; 1, you can allow it to completely hard on a glass bowl & then scrape it off into a talc powder substance. Its great for sprinkling a little w/ some weed. As long as your a once a week smoker it won't take much, I could easly burn threw my 6month stash in a week if I let myself. B, you can also ball it up at some point in the drying process & put in a air tite container. If it gets to hard add a little water & it'll loosen rite up...happy token!

Hey Smash just watched your video's. Pretty easy done. Just a couple of questions?? How far down do you take the "liquid mush" with the hair drier. Do you take all the moisture out of it or leave some in to make a paste or more of a pancake batter consistance. Also what sort of high to you get from it and what are the methods you can use in consuming it. Also they sell poppy seeds at my local supermarket for cooking and such, are they the same sort of seeds. I have never seen or really read about poppy seeds so that why I have so many questions. groccery stores do indeed sell poppy seed that can produce opium, but there are plenty of ways to get the more exotic and large pod varieties... The grocery store seeds are often a setigerum variety and you can get more bang for you buck and time by ordering some real Papaver Somniferum seeds from onestoppoppyshope.com
