18-07-12a.jpg17-7-2012.jpg11-07-12a.jpgauto#1 7-72012.jpgThe reason for the sudden break in my first growlog was that I commited just about every error you can make growing cannabis, including the greatest sin of all. causing pain and distrees to my girlfriend and her plant...hell hath no fury etc etc. 3 days after putting her perfectly healthy plant in with my LED and the lower leaves started turning yellow along with mine. My g/f is very old school and blamed the LED and I was in no position to deny the strong possibility. things were very strained for a week or so. but after After a long weekend in Athens and a week in the Gulf of Naples where I reacquainted myself with Moroccan hash the air of disdain had thawed considerably and i decided to restart.
It was only when I saw my girlfriend watering her plants, that I realised where i had been going wrong, CHRONIC UNDERWATERING!!! I also had the LED on 24/7 which is not good. Thanks to Autoberry on this forum who provided a lot of useful information on using Quantum Bloom LED lamps. I have also consulted with Muddie (owner of Quantum Bloom who is available most of the time for any help you might need.)
my set-up has changed its still a 90x 90 x 180cm SJ grow tent with a 240w Quantum Bloom LED, but now with a 200w CFL (courtesy of a friend) and a 110w CFL hung lengthways. I have 1xWOS? Pakistan Ryder ( started in late May and spent its first 5-6 weeks eking out an existence on our balcony and inside against the window as the heavens poured rain in Biblical proportions) 3x auto-seeds Auto#1 (which went in on the 1st of July and were chosen because they are apparently idiot-proof to grow) and 2x WOS afghan kush ryder (planted out on the 7th of july once the Auto1s had started growing well)
the earliest photo shows one of the Autos after a week, the second shows the Pakistan Ryder on the day it entered my tent, looking thin and bedraggled. The third is a shot of my setup at the end of the second week with the Afghan Kushs just visible in the centre. The final picture shows the pakistan ryder after a spell under the lamps, it really filled out in just a week

Glad to see you back mate, and things are looking nice in the tent :smokebuds:

thanks Red-Eye here is the current state of play, as you can see they are doing famously, no trouble at all. I cant tell you the relief I felt , when I returned from Paris this week to find this sight awaiting, especially after turning one of my plants (from the first grow) into a psychedelic twisted wreck with my first application of nutrients, I now seem to be doing ok

I'm on my first grow and could probably help you in writing the complete, how not to grow cannabis diary's, with the help of people on AFN I think things are turning around now.

Really encouraging to see your new photos, just goes to show it can be done.

Very impressive plants chap!

p.s. hope your gf has forgiven you, I've upset mine a few times with the grow, don't think turning her second wardrobe into my propagation area was the best of starts

yes when you spend all that money and get sweeet FA and the missus just chucks water at it on the balcony and it springs up like wildfire, it is very galling and depressing. So once i had good results a great weight was lifted from my shoulders. She is ok now, she has seen that it does work. Initailly it was "well thats your grow and this is mine!!!" but like I say a womans temper waxesand wanes like the moon but NO I dont think i will be converting any of her wardrobes any time soon.

here are some pictures of the pakistan Ryder from about 4 days ago when i was trying out my macro-lens, but shows some nice detail

Welcome back mate nice few babies you got there :-) how long have they been under led? how you getting on with your led? I got the same one as you about 2 months ago and it won't grow anything. I killed two lots of plants and nearly a third till i switched back to hps and they shot up a few days later? they went yellow in seedling stage exactly the same as yours no matter how far away I put the light? There's a whole website explaining that the owner of quantumledbloom is a fraud and he is not using the bridgelux chips and he's been ripping of the penetrators and telling ppl there the same but there all cheap components! I hope I havent been ripped let me know if your seeing any good growth with it and how your getting it! Lol. Also does your led seem to have loads of white LEDs in it and a few yellow looking ones they did not say the light had yellow on the site! I though yellow was basically useless for plant growth? Ime no expert but I am loosening confidence in my light by the day! Sorry about all the questions mate but this is annoying that I can't get it to work? I hope it's just me being stupid :-)

Hi jeff, I was in a very similar state to you till a few weeks ago as I had exactly the samething happen with mine, it was because I wasnt watering it enough!!! .....and using it 24/7 (should be 18/6 as the plant needs time to sort through all that energy and if the light is on all the time , then it can't.!!!! mine has mainly pink/red & blue lights certainly not yellow!!! As you can see from the photographs they are now doing famously, on my local hydros advice i also used CFLs as he has found that it works much better in combination. I hope this answers your question?
I wouldnt take too much notice of internet gossip you can find any opinion you want on the net, give Muddie from QB a phone,( he is available seemingly 18/6) and talk to him he is very helpful.

I know I just want it to work I've called muddy 4 times and I still can't get any good growth from it? He recommended I grow them under cfl and then swich once there a bit more mature and can take the intensity but they just stopped growing every time and then I would swap back to my 150 watt hps and they take off? I might have a different version then because mine has allot of white and a few yellowish ones? I've even made a new room to test it in and I've had a photo blubbery under it for over 3 weeks that i started under cfl its now on 12/12 with temps at 78-80 and water thoroughly wen pots are light but still no noticeable growth. I hope yours come out ok how long have you had them under the led was the cfl in there aswell from the start? Thanks for your responses mate I can't seem to get my head round this! :-s it's always nice to ask someone who's had the same problems!

I have had the CFL in there from the start originally my 110w propagator, then a friends 200w blue lamp and now my own 250w red one, try all 3 and see what happens, my hydro mans brother has HPS, CFL & LED in series in his grow.I am adding some photo updates as well.o
