Say...I wonder if you have springtails?
Hard to guess from the photo in your grow room.
What do you think?

No I don't think so these are more round and fat rather than long and skinny. If they have been alive this long in the soil though I don't think they feed on live plants. I've had that soil for a good three or four months sitting in a bag. You would think they would just die off.

The shape of them does look more like root aphids than springtails as they are more stubby looking, but then the dark head does not match as from all the pics i have seen the root aphids head seems to be transparent like the body.

@Waira @Renaissance Redneck @Grim Reefer @oldster any ideas ??

Root aphids (can see the same body shape but note the transparent head compared to your pics)

Check out this google search for Hypoaspis Miles and see what you think looks a little like what i can see in the pics, if so they are partial to snacking on fungus knat larvea so would be friends.

It definatley looks more like the hypoaspis miles than the root aphids. I noticed the root aphids have a round head this one has a pointy brown head. It looks almost exactly like that. I'm pretty sure you nailed that one! Once again thanks for your help this forum is so awesome and all of the people here help out a lot. My favorite forum ever!

Iamlegend2121 post those bug pics over in live help.. Those guys can tell ya real quick.. kinda does look like a aphid.. But im not a 100%
Thanks I will do that. That way my whole thread isn't about bugs lol. I'll wait a little bit to see if anyone that Spanglish tagged will chime in. If not I'll go over to the live help thread.

:smoking:... count those legs, 'Legend! --mites are part of the Arachnid family, and will have 8 legs,... I think Spanglish has it right though, that body is also all mite (tick-like, right? ticks are also Arachnids),..note that it lacks the segmentation on the abdomen that the aphids do, and aphids have 6 legs like all true Insects do,... since it's a predator, it's a boon to have around! :amazon:

It's almost impossible to count this things legs. It moves around to much and I have to use a loupe to see them good. But I think you guys are right that it's a mite. It does look like a little tick so it's a mite for sure. Thanks for stoping in and helping out. Now I can put my worries to rest.
