I have been trying to put together a tumble trimmer for a while. I finally got it together on a trial basis.
It is based on Tom's tumbler. I still need to make a better closer and a motor. I did not want to add to the cost without seeing some kind of result. Somehow I forgot to take photos of the finished product. I swear I thought I did. But the dogs wanted there dinner and It did not get done.
First of all the weed has to be overly dry. I plan on using boveda packs tor bring it back.
Drying in a paper bag or laying them down is probably not the best because it flat spot them and puts the leaves against the bud.
If you hang dry them the leaves usually get dry before the interior which would be better.
If you break down the buds they get cleaner.
I did remove the big fan leaves while wet.
One plant was dry, but I put the buds in a turkey bags and it brought the moisture back to the leaves. It did not trim well. will give it another try.
The second plant I tumbled for ten minute by hand and the buds were clean. I would say 1/3 needed nothing, 1/3 needed 2 -5 leaves taken off, and ther were the od shaped and flattened ones that needed a little extra.
Overall it was a good start and I will work on making it better.
