New Grower Noob budget first grow

@Damien50 thanks for the advice and welcome to this little corner of the website lol, I have gone for the biobizz as it readily available in my area, plus it has good reviews and feedback here on AFN, My biggest scenario now is when to start introducing them!! With me potting up in compost there should be enough nutes in the medium for at least the first few weeks, albeit I may be corrected by some more experienced growers out there, so here is my thoughts, approx week 3 start with a low dose of grow, which will continue throughout, then bloom with a week of ok 13 & 14 then top, once the plant starts to show it's getting close to harvest then flush. Obviously mistakes are going to happen along the way, it's all part of the learning curve!! My main aim from this grow is to at least have something at the end with a little help and support from you guys, it may not be much but time will tell, this is why this first grow is being done with the lovely free seed I received with my order, nothing gained nothing ventured and all that!!

I only grow hydroponics lol. I suggested mega crop because it is a 1 part nutrient with everything you need in it already. For $30 it will probably last longer than the biobizz it's just a cheaper investment with proven returns.

I consume more bud than I have the time for soil to give me lol. Trying to think of some soil growers but I'm getting nothing.

Biobizz is fantastic stuff buddy pretty mild and hard to overdo it ....I did find it lacked a little on the pk side of things sometimes in heavy bloom so used canna pk 13/14 with it in the later flowering stage. You will probably want some cal/mg on hand as well as leds seem to make them cal/mg hungry @archie gemmill has a fantastic nute schedule for biobizz somewhere in his thread , I copied his when I first started out and had good results! :coffee:
Hi fellas, thanks for the advice, @niceneasy I haven't got any nutes yet, week I tell a lie I have some pk 13 & 14 was thinking a try pack of biobizz 3 X 500 ml grow bloom & top for £21 didn't think that was a bad price, kind of anxious about nutes - over doing it etc... But we try!!!

Thanks man, that was going to be my next dilemma "am I going to need calmag" I know there are traces cal / mg in the biobizz nutes but from what I can figure out, there isn't much, And in the northern part of the UK we have soft water with calcium so I was torn between getting calmag or not

So, the next pics are from my water suppliers official website detailing what is in my water, hoping some more experienced growers out there can tell me if there is enough cal and mg already in the water or would I need to purchase some calmag, thanks

So today the new light arrived YEY!! But this quickly presented a problem, again! On assembling the light, basically attaching the lifting straps to the light I quickly realised that because of my small grow space, height is going to be a problem. With the lifting straps connected to the light following the manufacturers instructions, the light itself has a 12 inch gap from the top of my tent to the top of the light. So, with some slight reconfiguration of the lifting straps, basically removing 2 of the 4 straps, and making a big X diagonally across the 4 anchor points, I was able to reduce the lost space by 8 inches, giving me an 18 inch distance from light to canopy.

NOTE TO SELF: RESEARCH AND MASTER LST!! YOUR GOING TO NEED IT.

On first pluggin of the mars hydro it was clear to see the difference in the brightness of this light compared to the cheap super blurple one originally purchased. Although, I may use the cheap light as an additional light during flower (placing it at the bottom of the tent, pointing up underneath the plant - anyone have any thoughts on doing this, or would the new light have enough penetration??)

So what's next, obviously keep an eye on temps and humidity, biobizz nutrients have been ordered, calmag, pH tester and pH up/down is being ordered today. Anyway pics below show new light and the progress my baby is making since the other day!!

Hi there! :D
It's a nice start for a mini grow!! Very much how my first cab looked (well.. yours is a bit fancier!! lol)

I've looked at your water - it says soft, so i would assume that will come with a friendly PH.
The biobizz soil and nutes you're looking at are considered "organic" (ish) .. With that in mind, adding PH management (acids) is not totally recommended .. infact, the nitric or phosphoric acids will kill any microherd that's being built with the biobizz nutes.

If PH management is absolutely required, i'd use Citric acid in this case (lemon juice) .. It doesn't hold PH as well as the acids do, but is friendlier to the growing medium.

The pictures suggest that you may be able to buy tescos water. It's 6.2 ph. - I'd start with that, buy a couple of 5 litre bottles, and when the plant is bigger .. try dechlorinating a batch of your water and carring using that. (no ph management)

The biobizz soil should actually buffer the PH so in theory, unless your water is horrible - should do the job.

I use Biobizz soil and some of their nutes (along with a bunch of other stuff from Biotbabs)

hope this helps! :D

Hi @blue Thank you for the advice and input, as previously stated I am a complete noob!! And all info is being absorbed like a sponge!!!

The new light has been running an hour now, and my temps have spiked a bit too much, 31 degrees Celsius, so on comes the extraction fan and suck some of that excess heat out!! But this has its own draw backs, namely humidity, without the extraction running humidity is stable at 75 with it on it drops to 49, so guessing a humidifier is in order, anyone have any recommendations for a small humidifier to fit my space?? At the moment I have put some boiled water in a little pot inside the tent (using the basic assumption that warm water releases vapour into the air)

:D You need to have that extractor on all the time (24 hours really).
I wouldn't worry too much about that 49 humidity - the plants will be fine with that, they won't like the extra heat too much though (31 is a bit too hot).

Nice try with the little pot  .. I wouldnt bother too much with those either :D you'll just knock em over at some point and make a mess!
To get increased humidty with adding water trays (just for reference) the humidity is released with breaking the surface tention of the water, like a fan blowing across it.

Another way to add humidity would be putting damp towels in there .. but that's all a bit of a chore for me.

My humidity was notoriously around the 40s for nearly every day - not optimal for veg .. but ideal for flowering!

Thanks again for the input mate, currently on my way to Tesco for some water!!!!
