Indoor NiceNEasy's trials and tribulations.

Just a quick update to keep things straight in my head.

It will be 5 weeks from pollination in 2 days. I'll probably keep the plant going another week, to give the seeds a total of 6 weeks growth - if they are there. We will see at the end of next week. The Dawg really stinks, I mean completely hums. I didn't know it was going to be so bad, blows my filter away. Think of my plant with good canna vibes my friends, as I don't want to cut her early but leaking smells are not acceptable either. At 7 weeks proper flower (9 since 12/12), she is ready to be harvested. You can smell the change in her, an earthly ripeness.

I hadn't thought about doing a partial crop, and leaving the heads that were specifically pollinated to go the extra weeks. This could greatly reduce my smell overheads while any seeds mature properly.

Think that's going to happen sooner rather than later.

Was just reading a review on the Dawg, and reads a lot like mine - barring the weight. Quote from below - "Its smell is expected to be strong and heavy, and nuances of damp earth and pine will be perceivable in its basically sweet taste". Right on the money that.

Named Dawg Star, by T.H. Seeds of Amsterdam, who created this stunning 4-way mostly indica hybrid which promises such a super indica party. To breed their latest variety, Dawg Star, they married the famous Chemdog strain (OG Kush x Sour Diesel) to their own Dark Star (Purple Kush x Mazar I Sharif). The small part of sativa contained in Dawg star, mainly coming from Sour Diesel, doesn’t keep this strain from having a very narcotic effect, so narcotic even that is supposed to bring relief to those who are suffering from insomnia, according to T.H. Seeds. They praise Dawg Star as a therapeutic variety that is also helpful for patients plagued by chronic pains, thanks to high levels of CBD and CBN.

Its smell is expected to be strong and heavy, and nuances of damp earth and pine will be perceivable in its basically sweet taste that “will surprise anyone who tries”. Dawg Star needs 60-65 flowering days to mature, indoors arriving at heights of 100-120 cm in the end and delivering up to 600 grams of buds per square metre. Outdoors, she can get as tall as two metres.

The "Dawg" sounds good with the stank. I know you like the hash and that Dawg should have some for ya. The reason I say this is because of the similarity of the Dawg and the Purple Kush that I grew. My Purple Kush did not get full development of the lower buds so that is going to hash. The plant was too thick and bushy the top buds did ok but there were many lower buds that were small. Your project that you spoke about crossing Amnesia Haze Auto and Black Dragon and calling it "Forgetful Dragon's" is very interesting. Cool name :baked:

The Dawg has been cut now, barring two little buds. I really don't think it is seeded now, certainly none so far & I should have come across something. I will be pretty pissed if there are zero seeds, but at least there's weed at the end of it & I already want to head in a different direction with the Amnesia.

Bus shots from a week or so ago. More on the seeds or lack, once the bud is dried.

With my Jamaican project dying over the Winter, and now with the Dawg not getting seeded, I have been looking for somewhere else to plant my flag.

I was talking to my nephew (who lives in Amsterdam), and he reminded that when I visit I smoke every piece of Amnesia Haze in the shops. The answer to my quest was so obvious in that moment, I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before - an epiphany of sorts. Combine two of my favourite strains, Amnesia Haze and Black Dragon. This time I'm not going to go to all the trouble of turning a photo to auto, but instead stand on the shoulders of giants and run autos only, so I can concentrate on getting the traits I want.

After hunting around I found there are a few different Amnesia autos out there, but some are just crosses they have called Amnesia, and not the haze I want. I then found Royal Queen Seeds, and they have the plant I'm looking for - according to their spiel (it was not until later I found that a lot of people are having difficulties with germ rates and RQS).

Anyhoo, for once in my life I spent a little money & bought 3 seeds for 25euro. Almost killed me I must say, but well worth it if I get my cross out of it.

I put 2 into soak last night, so waiting on them showing signs of life. Supposedly they can get large, but I intend to grow them quite small, possibly only in solo cups or something slightly bigger. From now on my grows have to border on the nano, never mind micro, but that's cool. It's been a long time since I've had to grow for personal 'bud stock', rather than just trying to enjoy myself growing and breeding the plants. This event is to get the crossed seeds only, all the bud will be hashed once it has been picked through.

As the Amnesia are feminised, I will be using pollen from a Black Dragon. This is from one of the F4's I am currently putting down the F line. Fingers crossed that at least one shows signs of colour, as this is one of the traits I want to bring to the Amnesia.

The Amnesia Haze Automatic is the result of many years breeding. A cross of the Amnesia Haze, bred in The Netherlands in the 1990's by Hy-Pro Seeds. The original Amnesia, aka Amnesia Haze, Champagne Haze, The Bomb, Ultra Haze and many others names is classic Sativa strain, popular everywhere.
  • Genetic Background: Amnesia x Ruderalis
  • Type: Sativa 50% Indica 20% Ruderalis 30%

3 Seeds, and a free Northern Lights - 25euro.

I have checked the Dawg bud today, and there actually are some seeds in it - full joy. That leaves me with a bit of a conundrum, should I use the new males for pollen or the frozen?

Currently I am swaying for the frozen, as the male displayed the black trait, whereas these have not so far. I'll give it a couple more days, before final decisions.

Amnesia are off to a good start. 3 days, and both seeds have tap roots.

2 days later, and both are up through the soil. 1 of them looks a little iffy at the moment, but will hopefully grow out of the issue. This one had a little issue getting her hat off.

And finally, the result I have been waiting for. Did the frozen pollen work or not? The answer is yes, and generated 15 nice seeds. This will be enough to start the next phase, which will happen in a few months. I have packed the seeds away, so they can mature correctly & get the germination rates up. Once the Amnesia has been bred, then I'll start on these again.

As the frozen pollen worked, I have killed the 2 F4 males. The F3 Dragon with the black traits is to be used as the father.

Some hash images of the Dawg Star, probably tomorrow.

This is what remains of the Dawg Star, 7.3g in hash. I probably should have stopped sorting at 6g or so, as it's looking a little green, but I was breaking it down quite a lot to pick out all the seeds. That's my excuse anyway. No matter, the smoke is really strong.

Amnesia @ Day 6. They were kept in the little box until the first set of leaves, and then transferred to the main.

Looking ok, though the one which had issues with the shell has a bit of a dark centre. These are not supposed to be purps, so hopefully whatever is the problem will have sorted itself.

As a treat to myself I bought a little hydro kit, real cheap and nasty, just to change it up a little. Basically it's a DWC, a bucket of solution with an air pump. I should be able bollocks this right up.

I've put a few Dragons in to soak, as I have loads of these. Pity they are not femmed, but it's only for a laugh anyway.

Seeds to be cracked with the usual paper towel method, and then transferred to this foam stuff. I have ordered some little clay balls for the next time.
