hi guys... !:jump:

i am very new at growing... this will be my first grow...

i am located in a tropical country ... so i have no worries on cold weather... sun here is 12 hours all year round..

i got 5 seed ... germinated 2 with success.. right now they are on the window in small little pots...

how long shall it take for me to move them out on the balcony and to a bigger pots... i plan just to move them once.. don't want to cause stress on the plants..

and shall i germinate the 3 seeds too?... just in case?.. they are short rider seeds...

i got a small balcony and I'm not aiming for big plants... i prefer the small compact plants.. :)

any tips and suggestion are totally appreciated...

peace out! :wiz:

Get into the new growers forum...read the stickies.....lots of great info there from some very good growers...post ya details....etc...plenty of help around...good growing!

You want to 'harden the plants' Every day move leave them out for longer
For example: Day 1: Leave them out for 2 hours day 2: 4 hours etc etc.

Welcome to the New Growers forum. The biggest issue most new growers face is setting and maintaining the proper soil pH. So you will need a good pH tester. You will also need some good soil. Depending on what is available to you something peat based with lots of perlite as well as lime. You will also need nutrients to feed the plants. For pots I would suggest something in the 2.5 - 3 gallon range. Also a good water source. Being in the tropics it should be very easy for to capture and use rain water. Give us some more details on what you are planning and I'm sure we can help you out.

for soil,.. i got some canna terra soil mix and plan to join them with perlite and vermiculite mix too...

got the Ph tester already going to test my tap water... where I'm at we have to drink from mineral or bottled water by the gallon... we can't drink the tap water... :crying:

i plan to have a healthy compact plant since it my first project ... not aiming too high.. :) hehehe..

I'm trying to figure out how to put pictures...right now... ;( once i got it... ill post them up.. :)

thx uu..

If your soil is the Professional, it's pre fertilized and may be a bit too hot for seedlings. The site I saw said it's comparable to Bio Bizz All Mix, which we know is hot. Fine for mature plants.

Welcome from a Canadian Old Timer. I grow on my balcony also but I mostly grow photos up there. I am going to take pictures of my balcony grow next week. Good luck with your first grow. Muddy always gives solid well thought out advice. If you listen to it and heed what he says you will do very well.

My balcony grow is primarily in pro mix. After they get big I start adding compost to the top of them. I use sea compost if I can get it or well composted sheep manure if I can't. as they bloom I kick them with a little Morbloom. I get good results and I don't fuss much.

hopefully the pict up the top is working.. :D

move them in yesterday.. germinate them using the tissue method ;)

i am using root!t brand as the medium right now... before i move them to a bigger pot... located on the side of my window... getting the morning sun..

is my set-up right..?... I'm so nerveous that i might make a mistake.. in such an early stage..

hi muddy,
i just checked it... yes... it is the professional.. if its to hot... shall i just get some organic or just normal potting soil/mix first... then move them later on when they are bigger?..
i was reading that auto's don't like to be moved and that it is best to just put them in a pot that will last the whole time..

They look fine so far. As soon as you see roots coming out of those Rapid Rooters get them into soil right away.

I would suggest filling up the pots with the Professional, then hollowing out a bit in the center, maybe the equivalent of about a 12 or 16 oz. cup, and filling that with the normal potting mix. They put the Rooters in that. That will give the plants a cooler soil to get started in, then will just grow into the hotter soil.
