Hello everyone,

I’m a new grower looking for some guidance. Current setup: 5’x5’x8 tent, 4 Viprasectra 600watt LED’s, 2 6” in-line fans (one for exhaust one for fresh air), humidifier etc... currently focusing on Autos. Strains currently growing: Mephisto Genetics Sour Livers and Fast Buds Gorilla Glue.

I need to guidance as too when I should lower my lights to the recommended 24” from the plant. I want to make sure my girls are getting enough light but I’m afraid I will burn them if I get too close. My SL is 4 weeks old. Should the lights be that close at this point? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think more information would be helpful from what I have gathered on here thus far. How old are the other plants? Are you using one switch or both currently? I am sure there is more info than that needed, but those two are the main things I can think of that probably matter the most.

Thanks for the quick reply. SL Bday was 3/26 and GG was born 4/5. Only using bloom switch currently . They are under 24/0 light cycle. Soil medium FFOF, with 30% perlite. I’m Using advanced nutrients. I’m using one 600watt light per plant. Hope that helps

Oh and using 5 galling smart pots..

I'd pick up a Par meter. Might help you decide how high or low to keep your lights.
I just harvested two FB GG4s, and didn't have much of an issue with my leds.

Not sure which model of Viparspectra you have, but the 600 Reflector I have isn't supposed to be used on Bloom only. I have personally followed their instructions on previous grow by turning the second switch on once preflowers have shown and bringing down to 24" as a starting point, then working down closer as the foliage spreads and grows. As Dichoti said, some form of PAR meter or light meter should help tell you a lot, as will the plants as they respond to the changes you are making.

Thanks! Any par meters tha you would recommend that won’t cost me an arm and a leg?

I also have the reflector series. So are you recommending that I keep both switches on from start to finish?

Not off the top of my head.
I've heard great things about apogee, But they're expensive.
You can convert Lux to ppfd for a rough estimate of how much your plants are getting, too. You'll have to hop on google to get the equation, and hop on apogee's site to get the number you're supposed to plug in there for LED lighting, But it seemed accurate for my last grow.

No, I am just saying the manual states NOT to use the bloom switch independently. Probably to keep the unit cooled properly with both fans on, but thats just speculation.
