Photoperiod New grow 2023 Barneys Farm and In-house genetics

Week 3 completed
  • Today is day 21 of this grow and honestly I dont know how this ones gonna turn out. All the plants are very different from eachother in various ways. Which yes is yo be expected but I mean growth rates and overall health.

Leading the pack for overall health is Mimosa x Orange Punch for sure tho. This girl is just happy to be alive
    20231119_085701.jpg

Nice healthy foliage, leaves are hearty and always at least flat or praying, and the node spacing is tight on the main stem but now after the top the side branches seem to have greater distances which is what I was hoping for. Beautiful plant thats for sure.

Forbidden Jelly isnt really unhealthy but I just cant get the droop to fully go away, also I gave up on lst because even the new extremely flexible branches were tearing. I was being as delicate as I could with them. Forgot to take pics of it but they are fine so its whatever
    20231119_085650.jpg

Not a great pic but my back hurts today and I didnt feel like bending over or kneeling to get a better pic this morning. Like I said great color, pushing out side branches and the ones I damaged are growing just fine too, but the DROOP, the limpness in the leaves is just really irritating. Like one day a week the habe rigidity and its right before the pot needs water. Idk maybe Im over watering this one every time.

Ayahuasca is just a goddamn snail. Im seriously almost considering pulling this one and just running the 2 that are actually growing. I think this strain favors temps closer to the 80s and higher humidities on average. Over the week it really doesnt look different but its growing.
    20231119_085658.jpg

Its fan leaves have grown in size but that top node with new leaves, thats the same node that was forming a week ago, and the node just now forming is the 5th finally! Side branching has started but again, didnt wanna get down and get pics. I'll get a couple more detailed pics later on today. Also I may let this one grow naturally, with how slow its going I think a top may set this plant back a while and Im just not willing to slow this one down anymore. I need smoke as soon as feasibly possible, but I wanna start my next grow as soon as possible too because I think Im gonna run all the autos I have which I think is 2 more granite runtz and another freebie 2 pack I got with my last order.

    Day 24
  • Watered all 3 girls today with about 1 gallon each. Very minimal runoff on the Forbidden Jelly and the Mimosa, but a pretty substantial amount of runoff on the Ayahuasca. The Ayahuasca's pot didnt really even gain that much weight either. Think I will be hitting that with some FF Sledgehammer to add some yucca to the pot, i think the entire pot is leaning on the hydrophobic side.

I know its not normal but I dug pretty deep in to the side of the pot and it was damp but after a fresh watering I expected the pot to be soaking and it was not, certain areas were holding more water than others but not dry. One thing that worried me was I dug about 5 inches down, bout 3 fingers wide and I saw no roots, obviously they are in there, the plant is alive, but they arent stretching out to the edges of the pot which is worrying. After almost a month there should be a pretty decent network of roots throughout the pot.

    Anyway heres some pics

Things going good so far. I just want that Ayahuasca to pick up the pace a bit.

    Day 26
  • Almost 1 month in and things are looking good besides how short the Ayahuasca is. Nothing too new to report just a few pics.

Shes looking really good and seems to thrive a bit more when I chop her big fan leaves. May top this one more time to provide some more cola sites, I have a feelinf this one is going to flower out nicely.

Im really liking the structure on this plant, nodes are about 2-3 inches apart all over the plant making it very easy to inspect and work around. Will be clipping the big fan leaves off this one soon too.

This one....I really dont know what so say about this one other than its just slow. Node spacing is super tight. Shes pushing out node 6 on the main stalk as she hasnt been topped. Im afraid topping her will halt growth completely. At about 6 inches tall she is a dwarf compared to her tent mates. Im hoping to see some super ridiculous stretch coming flowering cuz this the squattest plant Ive ever seen and Im thinking like I said before I think she just isnt favoring the environment. Not a good match for a grow cycle with the other 2.

    Here are current conditions

I know I said disregard vpd but I have the whole system calibrated so now its pretty accurate. Also heres a little environmental history data. This grow cycle seems to be showing a more even consistent temp and humidity overall.

The max temp never reached 81°F that actually just happened as the probe was sitting on top of my light while I was recalibrating the photone app. Also the lowest humidity was from when I had my tent running with nothing in it right before the grow, since it hasnt dropped below 53% thats just the average between ac probe and the stand alone monitor I have inside the tent.

    1 month down
  • Today marks a month and I couldnt be happier with the way things are going.

To start I did some lst work on the Mimosa and Forbidden Jelly and I was able to get a top in on the Ayahuasca Purple, she is topped at node 6 and she took it well and recovered almost immediately. She is really cranking the sides branches out now, also trimmed those 2 big fan leaves of the Mimosa.

These pics are from each side of the plant to show the branching

Going to be defoliating this one a teeny bit just to expose the lower branches to more light.

    Mimosa x Orange Punch

Again rotated the pot to give a view of the whole plant. Did a lot of lst work on here and evened out the canopy prettt well.

    Forbidden Jelly

Its hard to see the lst work on this bushy little girl but her nodes are alternating already so I assume she will start preflowering in the next couple weeks. This is the star of the tent, also the most expensive plant. Planning on flipping the ten when she is about 16 inches tall she stands about 8 to 10 right now, figure that will give me a pretty full tent between this one and the Mimosa. Hopefully the Ayahuasca catches up

I wish this one was as easy to train as the Mimosa though. This is as even as I could get everything without tearing branches.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Day 32
  • Plants are doing well, the Ayahuasca is starting to look like her tent mates but she will definitely be a dwarf when I flip to flower in 8-14 days. Nothing new to report as far as how the grow is going other than all 3 plants nodes are now alternating, the Ayahuasca just started though where the other 2 have about 2-4 nodes on each branch. Looks like the forbidden jelly has some preflower bracts showing up too, at least I hope, they have the tear drop shape but are too small to get a clear pic. Ill throw it up anyway tho

You can see what looks like a bract maybe idk. Just too small to tell. Shes healthy with 8 main branches so I expect good things from this girl during flower but both her and Mimosa are showing signs of being light eaters. The food I spread between the 3 plants the other day caused some slight yellowing tips but had reverted back already so I may give it one light flower feed after the switch and see how she takes it.

This is the tip yellowing I mentioned before. It seems to be righting itself already but this one branch took it the most, think it was a combo of food and too much light as this branch is closest to the center of the light.

    20231130_120839.jpg

Idk what to expect from this plant, Ill be happy if she gives me 2oz at this point. She looks good though so who knows maybe this small little plant will have monster colas. It is suppose to be a pretty heavy flowering breed, but if you go by what barneys says basically all their strains produce 600g/m² so kinda hard to tell lmao.

Thats it for today. Unless anything else pops up between now and the flip I probably wont throw an update up. Thanks for stopping by

    Day 38 start of flower
  • So even though the yellowing tips on the mimosa are getting worse gradually I decided to pull the trigger last night and make the flip to 12/12 a little earlier. Not that I wanna hurry this grow up, but I do wanna smoke on some fresh buds.

Also I watered yesterday before work, and roughly 16 hours later when I checked my plants this morning all 3 were bone dry. Pots were lighter than I had ever let them get so I gave all 3 a gallon of water. With that being said I had a feeling, even though I calibrate my ph meter about every other week, it was reading lower than the actual value. I did a full 3 point calibration, normally I only do a 2 point, and I would have to say that yes it was reading about .3 lower than it was suppose to so I think this entire grow Ive been slowly raising the soil ph. I know its not something done normally but I ph'd this watering to 6.05 and tested the runoff on each pot.

    Mimosa came out to 7.21
    Forbidden Jelly was 6.82
    Ayahuasca Purple was 6.77

I know each plant will have different tolerances, to a degree, of ph ranges they grow well in but besides being slow the Ayahuasca is in the best overall shape so Im thinking its a pretty accurate representation of what the soil is at by +/- .3 meaning the yellowing on the mimosa is probably due to some sort of ph lockout. And the forbidden jelly isnt as bad but it is starting to lean towards what the mimosa was looking like when it started. So I think Im on the right track as far as getting these 2 back on track. All waterings from now on will be around 6.1-6.2 to help bring the ph back down to a more desirable range.

Well see how this theory plays out over the next few weeks.

Edit, did a slurry test for a more accurate ph of the mimosas medium and it came in at 6.8, which is well within a respectable range, so now Im leaning away from lock out. My inputs are always below 6.5 ph so I must be dealing with an imbalance or hydrophobic pockets in the bottom of the bag.

Decided to try giving them 1 more gallon split between all 3 plants. Seems like it soaked at least 50% of it up. Gonna add some wicking rope to the risers and see how much it soaks back up tomorrow. Lights go out now before Im done with work now

    Day 39 pic update
  • Decided to take some pics. Thinking the mimosa is just hungry, and maybe lacking a little iron. Everything else seems to be in check and the forbidden jelly is starting down the same path. Next watering Im going full feed, not this quartered or half stuff trying to keep the ppm of my nute solution in the reccomended range. I know I have enough N so Ill dial that back but Im gonna give a fox farm reccomended feeding from this schedule (week 6). Skipping cal/mag as I added some with my last watering

I dont use the dry ferts but I have everything else

Heres the tent, not the greatest as I was defoliating too

Other than the yellow tips this plant looks amazing. Praying leaves, a little taco-ish cuz of low humidity but a hearty strain to say the least.

    20231207_131117.jpg

Still chuggin along but slow, its only 11 inches tall as if today so Im hoping for some major stretch, and some stacked colas. Will be putting her on a table soon. Also she is what leads me to believe the other 2 are hungry. Her roots reach the bottom of the pot just like the others but just based on overall size shes not eating as much and is overall healthiest. Also her new growth being so yellow and taking a long time to green up is why Im leaning on iron deficiency on all 3 just most severe on the mimosa

Anyway thanks for stopping by, thats all for today

    Day 45
  • Accidentally left my space heater on last night and it dried up my tent pretty quick. Pots still had some heft to em when I left for work yesterday, but when I woke up today the tent was at 79°F humidity was at 43%, pots were lighter than air.

Had to make a run to the spring to restock on water but had enough at temp to water today. 6.2ph no nutes again, next watering will be a dose at around 600ppm. I keep my water in my mud room so it was a little cold, after a bath in hot water I got the temp up to 69.8° from 61. The mimosa and forbidden jelly both took almost 1.75 gallons amd the Ayahuasca only took a gallon. Set the pots back in the saucer after run off stopped amd they sucked about 30% back up in a little under an hour. After that it seems like they wouldnt take anymore, even though they arent as heavy as fully saturated. Might to a sledgehammer flush next instead of a feed to yucca up the pots and wash out any salt build up, though I doubt there is any, not sure. All depends on how the plants respond to this watering.

Didnt take too many pics today. But I decided to see how tall the girls were, well beside the Ayahuasca. The mimosa is the first with the ruler the forbidden jelly is next. The ayahuasca is about 1/2 of these 2.

    20231213_123242.jpg

These measurements are from the ground not the top of the pot. Take off 12 inches for the actual plant size. So they both stand around 18-20in tall. Ayahuasca is about 10.

Thats all for today, thanks for stoppin

    Day 47
  • I didnt really wanna make another threadmarked update but the plants are growing so fast its ridiculous.

Watered today, each pot got a out 1.66 gallons and a feed at about 650-700ppm. Before watering I emptied my saucers. They still had quite a bit of water in them from a couple days ago and knew they would overflow. Decided to add a little bit of grow big to this mix now as I havent seen any new yellowing tips or rust spots. Only 1/2 tsp tho as I dont wanna overload on N.

Plants are looking great, jungle is getting more and more dense and tall every day....seems like pretty much every day Im getting an average of about .5-.75inches in height. Just hit 10 days in flower and its almost ridiculous how much they have grown, still have a lot more to go too. I expect to see buds start developing in the next week, maybe 10 more days.

Didnt take pics of the individual plants just the whole tent. My vinyl stickers are all disappearing in foliage whi h is awesome. I think I am starting to get a hang of this whole cultivation thing lmao. Got a pic of underneath so you guys can see the branch structure of the Mimosa and Forbidden Jelly
