Indoor Need some soiless advice.

@A4, sorry to sidetrack but since you mentioned the ProMixHP and it's lime level..

I had stopped at the local hydro shop and ordered the HP, trying something different than Hydroton/Coco Hempy's. They ordered it in and it showed up in the HP-CC variety. Have you any experience with the CC? Know of a thread on it's particulars? (search doesn't show much)
I have seen it but don't know anyone that is using it. I actually mix coir in with promix when making my TLO and have real good results using it. I am not too sure the ratios in the HPCC but it should noted that some people that grow in straight coco have seen calcium issues. I am not a coco grower and haven't looked at it in quite some time but at one time they were "precharging" their coco with a cal/mag supplement to help out with that. That was using straight coco, and I am not sure if it would be needed with the HPCC or not. Just thought I would throw that out there in case you noticed some rust spotting on your leaves, it would probably be from calcium deficiency. I dropped an article link below that may help explain it a bit.

@A4 another question. My last run was my first with Sunshine dirt and I was confused for the most part about checking the first inch of soil for dryness. I feel like in regular soil I could tell the top layer was dry by the way the dirt became powdery. No such thing in soiless, I would have light pots but the media still had some dampness but not enough leave moisture on my finger. Before I buy a soil moisture meter can you give me some advice for when I check the soil with the finger test, things to look for during the "exam" other than pot weight?

That is a difficult one my man. I go by weight early on then I just scratch some of the soil as the get too big to lift. I think more than anything, it just takeseems experience working with a medium. The more you use it, the more you get used to the hows and whens.

I fingered the top soil, the bottom soil through drain holes in my pots and went by weight and a cheap moisture reader then figured out how much they wanted and only check by weight and by looking at the edges to see of they have sucked in the medium away from the walls of the pot.

Anybody experience a green growth before ? I'm thinking it's a moss or alge. I hit it with friendly fungicide spray. Any insighta welcome.

If I get a bit of green I just lightly til the soil with my fingers mix it in and nothing else. works for me
