Hello everyone,

I have never grown a plant before but I decided to do so. I need help and guidance as to what type of equipment I should get.

I found this website with all kind of equipment http://www.hydroponics.eu .

I plan to grow 8 AF plants. I will be needing a growing tent, lamps, soil, nutrient solution etc..

Can anyone recommend what I should be getting? If you know any other online shops , preferably in Europe, you can recommend I would be obliged.

whats your price range and how many watts are you wanting to run?

To comfortably grow 8 plants you are going to need about 12 sq. ft. of space, so something like a 3' x 4' tent. To effectively light an area that size you'll need about 600 watts of HPS light or a comparable amount of CFLs, LEDs, etc. I would recommend 3 gallon pots. What nutrients you use will depend to a degree on what type soil you use. Don't know what is available in your area but look for something peat based that also contains perlite and lime. You can then amend that with things like composted manure, worm castings or guano. Avoid soils that contain sand as it tends to compact the soil and suffocate the roots. If you use HPS lights they generate a lot of heat, so proper ventilation is needed. An exhaust fan with a carbon filter to eliminate the smell, and a fan inside the tent to circulate the air. A lot will depend on your space and your budget.

Yes, with the right bulb you can use HPS through the whole grow for auto flowering plants. Look for bulbs like Hortilux that have an expanded blue spectrum.

That soil looks pretty good. Peat, perlite, worm castings, blood and bone meals. Very similar to what I use.

$600 euros is about $800 US. You should have no problem getting everything you need.

Where are you planning on putting your tent?

I will just put it in a room.

I have been reading various threads here and i will follow the tips posted by other users.

Once the grow is complete I will post pics and everything.

id get a 600w dual spec hps with ballast (magnetic 70-100 euros, digital 130-240 euros) id go for a magnetic extremely reliable and only uses a litte more power than a digital (my 400w draws 415w, so 15 watts more) and i cant hear it either.
youll need an inline fan with filter (6" will cost 80-130 euros)
a dr120 tent or somthing similar around 100-140 euros
a pack of good seeds 30 - 50+ euros
nutrients and soil- id go for plant magic soil with plant magic nutrients all organic (oldtimers grow and bloom) say 50-60 euros
pots 10-15 euro for 6 or 8 (7-15 litres)
ph tester (not realy nesecary for organic soil grows) 20 euros.

thats roughly 450 euros worth and you will have a few euro left over to buy somting extra to make it better.

hope i helped

hey articfox, just got a delivery from hydropnics.eu, spent 450 euro, arrived broken and now neither the currior or the company will take responsiblty, if ur in ireland there is a great shop in cork called utopia nation, i wish i went there now!! hindsight is a great thing, looking forward to ur grow:)

your local grow shop will charge higher prices (my local is alot higher) but you can make sure everything is in order and dont have to wait on delivery.
make sure you dont leave a trace to your house either way.
do your research on what you wan and need before you buy because some shops will try to sell you stuff you dont need.
a good grow set up is easily within your range so expect to get every thing you need and if you go to your local shop and find you need extra money to get all your gear chances are your getting ripped off, unless you want a big hydro or aero set up. start simple and get your strain of choice dailed in then you can start tryig to get the max from your set up.

I live in Greece so it will be kind of hard to find a local shop that has this type of equipment but I'll try.

Anyways I will plant sometime in January so I still have some time to look for equipment.
