I agree with @Damian50, coco is a good bet. As Damian says, you need your pH and EC/PPM meters. The cheap brick stuff works if you have to or want to go that way, but you MUST rinse and buffer. See cocoforcannabis.com for details. Any hydroponic nutes will work. Megacrop is simple and works well, lots of grows on here as demo's. Whatever nutes you use, you'll need cal mag with coco and LED's, both for initial buffering of your coco and during the grow.

Re. lights, Quantum board or Cobs both work, I like QB's better for light distribution/penetration. I ended up with DIY lights made with screw in bulbs spread out widely like QB's.

Just one light in a 4x4 isn't my preference. I would much rather have two lights, even is less wattage than one big wattage light, for a better light spread. I have two of the Spider SF1000 in my 2x4 tent, as well as some Autocobs. Each plant gets their own light. I've owned a couple of 4x4 tents in the past and the plants each got their own light in that tent too. Have you checked out the Autocob at www.cobshop.net. They are great lights as well.
