Hello fellow growers and stoners. I have a noob question since this will be my first grow. I'm going to keep it short and simple. I have a 4x4 grow tent, and I cannot figure out what light set up will work best. I'm getting a Spider Farmer SF series. Should I get 2 Spider Farmer SF 2000's, or 1 SF 4000? Lol sorry I didn't keep it short. Y'all's expertise will be greatly appreciated. I'm from Tennessee so I can say "y'all".

I'd get the 4000. More than enough plus it's cheaper than 2x 2000s

That's what I was kind of leaning towards. That way I don't have to mess with 2 lights. I appreciate your advice Damien, it got me over hump of the SF 4000. Damn good people here. As soon as I start my grow I'll post it on here. I'm probably not to bright for doing this, but I ordered Auto Ultimate, and Auto Glueberry OG for my first grows. I need the XXL yielders cause I'm gonna be dependent on my grows a lot.

You have a good light picked out. Aside from your medium and genetics, you're environment will contribute to your yield. Keeping a stable environment that that contributes to growth in each stage will make life easier for you and your plant. Low humidity is a seedling's enemy and can slow growth until leaves develop enough to aid roots in water and nutrient uptake.

New leaves require a lot more energy than older leaves and LST would be my preference for autos over pruning for yield and stress. Leaves are like organs so pruning should be kept to a minimum especially if something happens and you don't have enough leaves to pull the plant through flower(sugar leaves don't do photosynthesis to the extent that fan leaves do). They help you catch deficiencies and a load of other things.

Keep a stable environment though with good air circulation, it helps with pathogens/bacteria/mold. Frequent inconsistencies with excessive temperature and humidity changes can mess with a plants metabolism, invite mold, pest, etc

Good luck. Tag me in your journal and I'll follow

I sent you a private message but just disregard it. I'm definitely not going to prune or anything like that until I have some grows under my belt. I'm going to LST them though. I have clip fans and I have a couple of oscillating fans to if I need them. I have a dehumidifier and a humidifier as well. I tried to do a lot of homework before I started all this. One more question man and I'll leave you in peace. What should I grow in? That's one other thing I could never make a decision on. Soil, Coco, Living organic soil, or Coco soil mix?

I did my secondish indoor grow in soil. I don't like it indoors personally I prefer hydro for indoor. I use growpito Sim mix but I've used coco as well. If I didn't have the money I would choose coco but if I did I would choose this current media every time lol.

I like coco and grow my vegetables in it because I can't afford more sim mix right now. Coco needs a pH between 5.8-6.2 and needs to be rinsed thoroughly then pre soaked in a 1/4 strength solution of your preferred nutrients. Canna makes a specific line for coco but I prefer Mega Crop and something like Real Growers Recharge. I reuse my coco, I reuse my sim mix, soil is reusable, I can't really tell you what to choose. When I started in coco I thought coco for life but it uses too much water, soil was pest problems, the sim mix is expensive lol.

It depends on what you're personally after. I'd personally start in coco with some reliable pH and EC meters, a good nutrient line like Mega Crop, beneficials like Real Growers Recharge, extra CalMag and this website

Message me anytime. I can't grow shit but I know people that can.

Ok man I appreciate everything and your time. I'll for sure give you a shout when I plant my beans. Have a good one D.

Just one light in a 4x4 isn't my preference. I would much rather have two lights, even is less wattage than one big wattage light, for a better light spread. I have two of the Spider SF1000 in my 2x4 tent, as well as some Autocobs. Each plant gets their own light. I've owned a couple of 4x4 tents in the past and the plants each got their own light in that tent too. Have you checked out the Autocob at www.cobshop.net. They are great lights as well.
