The humidity in my 3x3 grow tent is only 39%- I know i need to get a humidifier but having never used one i have no idea what kind or size to get? Please Help as I just put seedlings in final pot so gonna get one hopefully tomorrow-also does it go inside tent or outside by air vent. Thanks :peace:

I’ve been using this one for a year. It does a really good job.

There are two types of humidifiers.

Evaporative - A bucket of water with a fan over it

Ultrasonic - They are the ones you see pouring mist

The evaps cannot push more moisture into the air than it can hold. Simple design. The ultrasonics can push humidity into the air even when its saturated. This type runs the risk of so much moisture that you get condensation on everything.

Look at both types and decide if one would work better than the other. If you're climate is super dry all the time you probably want the ultrasonic. I run a cheap evap type.

I have this guy in my 2x2 tent. It holds easily into the 70%s. It does take up a lot of space but if you're only growing a couple in a 3x3 it should fit well. I really like being able to just pour water in the top to refill. Easy. No carrying reservoirs to the sink and back.

Honeywell hcm-710

I think it's actually cheaper direct than off amazon but check shipping.

You can buy an ultrasonic humidifier that has a built-in humidistat such that it will shut itself off once its reached the desired setting, and turn itself back on when the RH drops below that setting. I'm using this in my 4x4:

Amazon product

I agree with the above that top fill humidifiers are easiest. Mine isn't one.

Thanks for all the info guys, Amazon and Honeywell both out of stock, so must be a popular one, and since my babies are going in tent tonight I ordered the one above that WITC suggested. Since it wont be here till Wed I'll do the bucket trick, already hung a wet towel in tent to see if that helps, buckets next, only gotta last till Wed. :peace:

Sure thing. To answer your other question in your first post, about placement, since this has a humidistat, I have it inside my tent. When I had the manual dial ones, I placed those outside the tent vent and let the passive intake pull the steam through the vent and into the tent -- the reason being was I didn't want to be opening and closing the tent door all the time to adjust the RH, both during lights on and then again during lights out after the temp dropped.

The auto shutoff definitely brings some peace of mind. Without it, I was checking the environmental conditions via my phone every few minutes, paranoid that the humidity was too high or too low.

the bucket with a towel hanging in it actually works pretty well, but it works best by far with a fan blowing directly on the towel.

Good luck with it. :pighug:
