Need advice on a slow blooming Norther Light Auto

Hola! Quick update on my plant. I flipped her to 12/12 on Feb 3rd So its been a little over a week on 12/12. Now I am seeing some pistils show up on bud sites. (Pics below). The plant has also started to become a little stiff. So I am stopping further LST.

I have a couple of questions -

1. Based on 1 week of 12/12 and her age of 56 days (since sprouting), is this plant on right track or is it going to be a nothing-burger? This is my 3rd grow and first time I for flipping an auto to 12/12. If she is not on the right track, I would rather use my time an resources on another grow.

2. I am getting about 1000 ppfd and 45 DLI (on top bud site) based on 12 hour schedule. Based on what I read, Cannabis plant generally need 40-50 DLI. If that's true, why would we ever run an on 18, 20 or 24 hour schedule if you can meet that DLI requirement in 12 hours and save electricity? Sorry if that's a stupid question. New grower here.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

A light cycle is ran 18+ hours a day at a lower intensity to reach that 40-50 dli marker based on generic inputs. Basic minimum feeding and stuff like that to get in the ballpark of an average yeild.

The plants needs will change depending on the intesities of the light given as well. The more intense the light the more nutrients it needs to be able to photosynthesize at a rate consistent with the light it is recieving. Most people run the 18/6 cycle for autos because at 600-800ppfd you hit that 40-50 dli without having to change the basic requirements. It gets more complicated the higher you try and get that dli but once you can get it dialed in rate of growth is explosive to say the least. Also its worth mentioning cannabis ruderalis is a northern hemisphere plant its used to having long days with 0 to very little dark period and we try and mimic that in an unnatural environment

Hi fellow auto farmers! Need some advice for my Northern Light auto (ILGM). She is 49 days old today and not showing enough progress on the buds. Each day she grows bushy and spends most of her energy on expanding leaves. Its almost like she is vegetating even though I am seeing pistils near cola sites. I have done mild defoliation on her a couple times in last two weeks but I am worried that if she is a true auto, it may be a bit late for another round of defoliation. I am a new grower but from what I can tell, she looks healthy.

I've been reading on forums that NL autos are notoriously late bloomers. I wanted to check with y'all if you had any luck waiting it out. Or should I just flip it to 12/12 and treat it like photoperiod. Appreciate your help!! Grow details and images below -

Strain: Northern Lights Auto (ILGM)

Age: 49 days as of 01/27/23 (sprouted on 12/09/22)

Tent: 2'x2'x4

Light: AC Infinity Iongrid 130W

Nutes: Advanced nutrients PH perfect (micro, grow and bloom), Bloom city Cal/Mag, StumpTea

Schedule: 18/6

Pot: 5 gallon fabric

Substrate: FoxFarm Coco Loco

Thank you all for your help! I was able to flip the plant to flowering by 12/12. Had a good harvest. I still haven't smoked it but I made brownies with the infused coconut oil of leaves and branched from the harvest. And boy did I have a trip for a few hours. I am excited for curing to be done so I can smoke it. My harvest would not have been possible without all your guidance. You folks rock!
