Indoor My way of keeping busy

Hi Jan
The method you mention ie starting in 1 Liter pots and transplant at sex is my method of "Dwarfing" if you want small compact bud bombs which are all meat and no bones then go ahead and transplant at sex. I you want taller plant with more space between internodes go for a bigger pot from the start and don't transplant.
Transplanting at sex stops stretch!
Keeping temps even (no fluctuation) stops stretch.
The bigger fluctuation between day and night temps, the larger stretch will be.

The inverse Square Law
The energy twice as far from the source is spread over four times the area, hence one fourth of the intensity.

This is part of the reason we get smaller buds lower down, that and the fact that fan leaves shad out lower bud sites.
This one reason we get "Larf/popcorn" buds at the bottom of the plant.
So it is often removed in a process called "Lolly popping" all the small buds are taken off, which allows the energy that would have been put into growing them be utilised further up the plant.
So grower will also defoliation, which does allow light to bud site which would be shaded by fan leaves.
However even defoliation can't negate the diminishing returns caused by the Inverse Square law that the further light travels, the larger the area it illuminates and so it becomes weaker in any measured area, the further it is from the light source.
This is not to say growing tall plant can't grow you a ton of bud, they can and do but it is a less efficient way of using the available light.
To grow compact bud bombs diminishes the effect of the Inverse Square law because all the buds are roughly all at the same height.

See how close the internodes are when transplanting at sex!

Pics are all of the same plant, Trippy Gorilla from Big Head seeds.
Grown in coco in a 1 Liter pot & transplanted at sex to a 11 Liter pot, temp keep even 24hrs a day.

So that is growing by transplanting at sex, It is just the way I grow.

Grow however you feel most comfortable there are many styles and each person grows the way they feel is the best fit for them.
I have grown in many small and tight spaces and have developed this style over the years and have shown and taught it to others.
I am the first person to show this style and journal it in the forums but others have adopted it!

I wish you all the best with your grow, we all learn from others and by reading as many grow journals as you can!
We have some wonderful grower here at AFN, why not check out so grow by @St. Tom & @Vapo those guys grow some greta plants and are top people. If you find a grow you like the look of read every bit of it and always ask question, we all started at the same place - square one and progressed from there!
Welcome to the forums!:welcome::vibe:

Arty
Its like one big bud.

@Fitzy the tote unfortunately isn't yours, they were my last 2 ice queens from mephisto. Also the three tier pot is a Meph but the label had wore off container. But I just filled a huge like 20 gal rain science bag and should be starting one of yours in it soon.

Probably going to have to chop some of my ladies. Mars cob crapped out on me and my other lights are being used by my dad. I'll be making my cuts tonight, hate to but they can't grow without light. Not sure what to do yet. So we will see.

@Fitzy they all were equal in fem rates 3 out of 5 were fem on all. Also your fems were fem. I'll post pics tonight when I get back.

Well dang! :rolleyes1: One thing I learned fast is there sure is alot that can go wrong. Wouldn't just a few screw in type bulbs keep them going at that stage until you figure something out? I have an old mars 300 blurple if you think it would be worth paying shipping for. Some of the lights are a little burnt looking but they all light up. You are welcome to it if you want

I have some older lights I may try and use, but also have 4 qb120 that need assembly. Was trying for an all Mars run with low watts to compare yeild.

I got two 6500k cobs and a 3500k cob from autcob and my dad's got them still working today. All was bought around the same time for a comparison grow.

That's depressing you never want to intentionally murder ur ladies but u also don't want to waste ur time so I get it I'm just excited I have one other person running the pie crosses and they seem to be large like I thought not huge but I can't wait and see if/how many phenotypes there are and also how they yield. It's funny I had a guy just tell me he loves the dinamex cross and another growing it now looks like he will be keeping it as he got a male an pollenated a few buds. Another guy ran the dark devil diesel in a 32oz cup and pulled an oz of super dense frosty buds so great genetics are there pick the best looking ones u can fit. Good luck squeezing them in I will be watching and sending good vibes and karma ur way.

Long overdue update, got my cob from @BigSm0 6500k 65w. Adding in more here soon. Going to put up a tent and do some major changes. I'll keep you all posted.
